Off Season but still wish....

3rd Line Winger
I still wish we could have had a full season with the LAPD line. My lord... Watching them live etc. they were unstoppable. Heck, the 2002 playoffs Deadmarsh was out but they still lit things up as a team. That era imo was sooo much fun to watch. I still remember the day I saw they got Palffy and I had to do a triple take. I heard rumors he may be up for trade and heard the Kings were interested but never thought they would get him. Then they did. And the Kristich era was over and we had our next superstar.

Anyways, watching the Col game where our team win game 6 against col without deadmarsh cause he was hurt, we had a pretty well rounded team and imo had deadmarsh been healthy it would have ended overall differently.

Comes the next year. The LAPD line if you look at Alison, Palffy and Deadmarsh's stats one of them went down again, they were the best line in the nhl and their stats were insane. Then the next went down. Then Palffy single handly kept the team on his back and I remember being at the game where he got hurt where is arm/shoulder got like pulled out its socket or whatever. I remember seeing it and him carrying his arm and I knew the Kings season was done.

But yeah, my wish was to see the LAPD stay healthy that year and see where they would have gone. Palffy gave us stunner at staples. Next year another amazing come back then one healthy they started on a rampage only to end early due to concussions.

Dave Taylor I feel did a lot more than Blake ever did. Heck, he even brought in Demitra to try and keep Palffy which might have been another insane line if Palffy stayed.

It's funny. I was literally thinking and talking about Zigmund Palffy in the Marner thread. I was the biggest fan of both he and Adam Deadmarsh before they even became Kings and I, too, wondered how much farther the Kings could have gotten in the postseason with those two healthy and playing for the Kings longer. I wasn't the biggest Jason Allison fan, but he was certainly skilled and he did a good job centering the LAPD line. However, I can't help but wonder how much better that line would have been if Palffy and Deadmarsh were centered by a more durable and faster player like Mats Sundin. Sundin was my favorite player at the time and the dream was to have him center Ziggy & Deader for the Kings in a perfect line combination IMO.

Bill Clement said during game 1 that year: “Nevermind stopping the LAPD line, I don’t know if it can be contained.”

I was a new fan then so it could still be nostalgia, but still feels like my favorite Kings line of all time. And I don’t even look back at the Allison trade very favorably. Hurt the team’s depth.

Best PP in the league when all 3 were healthy. So much fun to watch those guys take defenses apart.
