Oilers set to sign McDavid

Quite the team friendly deal- Although only 2 years-- McD really telling OIL mgmt you've got 3 years. (guess he really does want to win- cant imagine he couldn't have gotten at least 15 even at just 2yrs given Drai's deal). Here's hoping for 3 more years of OIL futility, then we can all start talking about him coming to LA again!

My thoughts exactly. He's telling them I'm doing my part (12.5M - could have been WAAAY more) so, do yours and build a winner around me.

I am so pessimistic that I don't even know if the world even gonna outlast that short contract, lol.

I was fascinated by the possibility of McDavid being available. I feel like this is the blankest check that a Kings GM would have ever been given. ;)

It seems he doesn't care about money that much...and rightfully so, if he wins the Cup they're going to plaster him with all kinds of endorsement money for the rest of his career.

Tack on $6M per year in endorsements, which are probably pretty lucrative for him in Canada

I'll never be rich unless the lottery works out for me. But, I can relate to McDavid. What's $5-7M/season more right now going to do for him? He lives in a relatively cheap city and if he's smart with his $ he'll be fine come retirement (he'll cash in at 31 anyways). The fact he did this and now gives Edmonton some more cap room to bring in better players makes me like him a bit more. He's a true team player in my mind. Reminds me of what Kariya and Selanne did in Colorado.

IDK what more one player can do to get them a cup lol.. stop ending up against the Panthers?

I never thought in an amount of years that he would come to LA but hey weirder things have happened.

When I'm stuck watching a Canadian feed he's in every other commercial.
