I kept saying "this is the real gold medal game" all through that.I think Canada can be beaten. The real championship game was just played. Go USA!!!
I was like "Put Kempe out, Sweden! He knows better than any of these guys how to do OT!"I truly have King's OT disease. When the USA game went into overtime I started shaking, sweating, and anticipating Doughty falling down for a US loss.
Boy, if Czechia had beaten Canada.. that woulda been a real beauty, eh?CZE had their chances to pull off the upset. Just didn't get it done
CZE had their chances to pull off the upset. Just didn't get it done
I agree, I was about to take a 15 minute break for the OT intermission. Then I realized the OT was about to start. These games should not be decided by a skills competition.Yep. Whose idea was it to have a 3 on 3 OT?? I'm sure Canada and USA lobbied hard for this so as to avoid hard fought OTs and even more tired players coming back to the NHL...but it just doesn't feel right in a knockout phase.
CZE got so close though even in OT with a grade A chance. Necas is top notch. But did the entire arena actually miss that CZE had 6 players on ice on that occasion or is that some kind of joke??
Canadian curling star Marc Kennedy claims he was set up by "premeditated" cameras to catch him "in an act" of cheating.
The Canadian curling team is now claiming to be victims after they were caught on camera 'double-touching' the stone.
"They have come up with a plan here at the Olympics, as far as I know, to catch teams in the act at the hog line," Kennedy said.
"This was planned... it was kind of evident that something was going on, and they were trying to catch us in an act."
Kennedy and Coach Paul Webster accused Sweden of setting up cameras to catch them cheating.
"I know we’re not the only team that they’ve done that to. So I think this was, I don’t know what the word is for that, but like a premeditated plan to try to catch us," Kennedy said.
Sweden is firing back at Canada, saying they've been sounding the alarm on alleged Canadian cheating for seven or eight years.
"We've been saying this for maybe seven, eight years or something. The media crew decided to place the camera on the hog line to see what was happening..." said Niklas Edin of Sweden.
3 v 3 OT for the USA & Canada ladies........did anybody practice 3 on 3 before.....ESPECIALLY Canada?!??!
That was a hot mess.
Credit to the USA ladies!
Well done!
Alysa Liu takes home Gold Medal
First Gold Medal in ladies singles for US since Sarah Hughes in 2002.
Agreed. The Canadian women's team were taken down by it. Now if it happens to the men's team, "real change" may happen. But, on the plus, that "controversy" will surpass the benching Wayne in the shootout in Nagano by *checks notes* *laughs, and laughs and laughs* Marc Crawford.Yep. Not sure if it is synesthesia or California pride but as soon as I read Ms. Liu was from Oakland, there was going to be some obligatory Tu-Pac themed celebration.
