It's pretty prevalent. Maybe not to that degree though, but then again I don't work as high up as the woman in that article does so NHL brass doesn't directly talk to me.

I can't put too many details into writing because my kid still plays youth hockey, but I would say that you have to be careful what you say and you can't really complain about coaches or certain players even though they always ask you for feedback at the end of the season. Opening your mouth, even over a reasonable complaint, will get you blacklisted. It definitely happens with the NHL affiliated youth teams in Southern California and its related teams (example: Ducks have other non Jr Duck teams under their umbrella as well as the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League and the Kings aren't any different).
