Panarin to Kings

I like it!
Kings need scoring and hopefully Hiller doesn’t suck him dry of all his creativity. It’s also only a two year contract. This was done to placate Drew, who went to the bosses and probably said we’d better be going after a cup and not rebuilding.
As for Greentree, meh, he’s a prospect who couldn’t make this mediocre team.

I love bread!

I had high hopes for Greentree making the NHL but he is not an elite prospect at all. Even last year I was saying that Ilya Protas was the best player on that line.

I have been wrong before but I am super stoked right now. Holland got us an elite forward for a middle-6 winger prospect and a third. Compare that to what Brock Nelson got traded for... As long as Panarin extends, this is a great deal. Salary cap space doesn't matter any more.
I liked Greentree but I had questions on how well he could be developed in the LA organization. As it was he was a lower tier prospect in the eyes of other scouts as shown by how he was handled at the current World Juniors. He was scratched and on the 3rd/4th lines when he did play.

Career totals with Rangers:
Games: 482
Goals: 205
Assists: 402
Points: 607
Playoffs: 12+23
*Note: 2019/20 and 2020/21 were shortened due to COVID.

Panarin consistently scores 90–120 points per season, a top-tier playmaker in the NHL.

2023/24 was a monster season: 49 goals, 71 assists → 120 points!
He’s very reliable in the playoffs too, with 35 points across multiple postseasons.

Panarin is already what everyone hoped Kuzmenko would become. How long has this fan base dreamed of signing a right shot forward with Panarin’s skills? Put Kopi between the Swede and the Russian to win faceoffs and get the puck to the goal scorers. Teams won’t be able to double team Juice anymore! Laffy goes back with 22 and 55 and the Kings will be better a better balanced offense.

Or maybe he did ask Gavy and he might be ok with Hiller. If Gavy disliked Hiller I’m sure that would have been discussed with Panarin, who ultimately only wanted to come here.
Maybe he agreed to the trade and signed the contract after getting an assurance that Hiller is going to be replaced.😎

We got what’s probably our best player & we only gave up 2 mid round picks & Greentree? No roster players, no 1st or 2nds, & none of our goalie prospects. And they retain 1/2 his salary. Holy crap. This is a bigger steal than Gaborik for Frattin. If I was a Rangers fan I’d be beside myself. And the extension of 2x$11 doesn’t hamstring us far into the future. Also because we didn’t give up much, we still have assets to get a center, either for this season or in the future. This is an incredible trade.

Edit - I guess the 3rd becomes a 2nd if we win 1 round. I can live with that.

Yep. The biggest question to me is who gets scratched on the winger. Foegele was already iffy. Now both he and Ward or Mallott could be on the outside looking in.

This is a good problem to have tho. I don't see Armia, Moore, or Perry sitting if healthy so that's 3 guys for one spot.

There’s definitely another trade coming. My guess is Kuzmenko is gone next.

Summer I'll be interesting to see what Holland does with development staff.
I say keep the guys who work on D and gets some new trainers for the offensive side of the game

" Panarin’s freewheeling, perimeter style made him less effective in tight-checking postseason settings, where his point-per-game average dipped to 0.76 (35 points in 46 appearances) during his time with the Rangers."

Artemi Panarin’s Rangers legacy after trade defined by electric playmaking, hollow ending

Unless we make an acquisition we will need Laffy at C next year
