For tonight I would scratch Ward, he was not as effective last game. Move Mallot to RW and insert Foegle

If I was the new GM and the first move I made was to extend the rookie coach for three years I would not fire the coach during or after the first year, especially when the owner is PA. That first decision as GM would make me look rather ridiculous.

I don’t really care if Hiller is the coach or not. And as easy as it is to criticize, I don’t know that the inconsistency of this team is on Hiller or the players who by and large are having down years.
Yeah, maybe it’s systems etc…but I don’t necessarily see it that way. Foegele was a good player last year. He is absolutely invisible this season. Is that Hiller or Foegele? I’d say it’s on Foegele. And I’m not just seeing it with Foegele. It’s most of this team.

Again, maybe it’s easy to say Hiller isn’t putting players in a position to produce. But the system is similar to the one last year. How does that excuse or explain the drastic lack of productivity?
I just see the players not playing well. I put more accountability on them than the coach.

I could easily be wrong. And Hiller may be a terrible coach. But I have yet to see a pattern that proves it.

The fact he made the team actually underlines that he was thought of as a top tier power forward prospect. Looking at the pool of talent Canada had available to select from, there were a number of top tier prospects which didn't even make the team.

Greentree will be a good NHL player, with toughness, which the Kings could have surely used. There are still questions around his skating, however, which do not make him the ideal fit for the current Kings system. All the same, he is a very good prospect and likely we look back on this trade wishing we had kept him a few seasons from now.

Good trade, though. This definitely sets the window for the Kings of 2 years to win the Cup, or bust.
 
After reading an article a few months back about how Greentree has been underwhelming at best, I’m stoked on this trade. Surprisingly, Holland didn’t give up the farm for him. A 3rd round (possibly 2nd) and 4th round WITH salary retained for this year = BIG W for Holland. I’m impressed, though I don’t know how this helps the Kings long term. Hopefully they can make something out of this over the next two seasons. Ain’t gonna do much this year, imo.
 
Mayor is thinking Panarin may play with Byfield and Fiala. I laughed when he said that. Terrible idea. 2 puck chasers and an offense only forward would produce more minuses than plusses.

That’s nuts. They need to get Fiala away from Byfield. Put Byfield with Kempe and Panarin. Let Fiala play with Laff and Foegele. I’d say you could also let Panarin play with Sami and Malott, so he doesn’t get crushed. Those two guys get the puck to the front of the net often enough, but I’m sure there are some who would say that’s getting ‘too cute’. Honestly though, that 4th line has been one of our best -scoring- lines over the last several games.
 
Sorry, but I really don't like this trade. I don't know about you guys but trading away prospects for a mid-30s player who's potentially going to be on the decline isn't exactly going to make the Kings a contender. This could be Holland's version of the PLD trade, only PLD's younger and Panarin 10 years older. At least Panarin isn't unmotivated in his play unlike PLD but still. Our prospect pool has gotten thinner now and the Kings roster even older, let's be real. It's going to take another 6-7 years for the Kings to be contenders again if they're going to stock up on prospects.

Now I'm even more turned off from watching this team. Thanks, Holland and Luc. *sigh*

Yep, I watch some Rangers PO games a few years ago and he was soft, soft, soft. I think that was 22-23 where his point totals were way off. Maybe he was injured, or? That is why early on in this thread I said no thank you. I guess we will all see for ourselves.
