Panarin to Kings

I think he’s totally worth this year’s first. Young center. Only putting up half a point a game so far but there’s room for growth. A lot better than what Turc has shown.

My concern is that SEA is only trading him for an established top 6 forward. That’s what’s been reported. But if futures and Turcotte could get him, it’d have to be a number of pieces. I think he’d be well worth that.
Yeah, you are right - Wright is worth a 1st round pick depending on where it falls. I just wouldn't give up a 1st round pick this year as the draft is relatively deep and I think there is a good chance a player can be had who is better than Wright.

When I say better, that is obviously subjective. Wright has a ton of potential but he also has some pretty relevant behavioral baggage. That, plus his poor draft interviews and the fact that he is already being pegged as needing a change of scenery, adds a good deal to risk to the equation as to whether or not he will ever realize that potential. He has the potential to be a grand slam for the team that trades for him, but players with attitude issues take a lot out of the locker room and can significantly hold team cohesion back. Unless a player is world-class, or comes super cheap, I just wouldn't take a chance on a player with behavioral issues.

Skill-wise, though, I am totally with you.

Jeff Marek had Wright’s sports psychologist on his show, so he is working on mindset which shows maturity. From what I have seen of him in games he’s a noticeably hard worker.

He makes 900k next year and then will still be an RFA of course so the risk feels minimal. I’d give up a decent haul for him but like I said I don’t know that’s what SEA wants.

All of this is to say I’ve been one of the pro-Petterson posters but i am starting to get real cold feet on that idea. Definitely colors my thinking here too.

Same, I was on the pro-Pettersson train too, provided we were able to get him cheap, and still would be willing to take a risk on him at the right price but I really think when it comes to players like Pettersson, and less so Wright, the team needs strong player leadership to keep them on track and out of their own heads. I'm not sure this team has that right now, especially with Kopi retiring.

Maybe with the additions of Panarin and Laughton (provided he re-signs) they do, though.

I agree with you, and others, that the Kings need to take some chances.
