Life can come at you fast, and it certainly has for the LA Kings thus far today.
Just a few hours after sending Jacob Moverare to AHL Ontario, the 25-year-old defenseman has already been recalled — and that wasn’t the plan.
As noted in this morning’s article, the Kings originally sent Moverare down today as a way of pausing his waiver clock. However, his services may now be needed back in the NHL.
When the Kings originally left LA last Sunday, the plan was to hold practice today in Calgary, prior to tomorrow night’s game vs. the Flames. However, following the team’s loss in Edmonton, their PR staff announced Friday would be an off day for the Kings.
As we’ve now learned, the Kings are a little banged up on the backend and management needed to wait until after morning treatments were completed before making a decision on a possible Moverare recall. We’ll assume he never even boarded the flight back to SoCal and is still in Alberta. Either way, he’ll now be available for Saturday night’s game.
From what we’ve been able to gather, the recall is precautionary at this point. Thus, there is no guarantee Moverare will be pressed into service. Further, we were able to confirm it doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the Zach Hyman interference penalty on Mikey Anderson shown below:
Coach Jim Hiller is likely to have more information at tomorrow’s pregame skate in Calgary.
