Quickie is done. He needs to retire after this season. Copley probably saves two of the first three goals.

I hate to say this, but I finally agree. I think he's a huge part of this organizations history now, it would be great to see him step in as a goaltender coach.
What's more concerning is that while Copley has been good, we don't really have a GREAT goaltender prospect in the works (at least that I am aware of)
I'd like Copley to prove us all wrong in a long playoff run, however I believe that once we're playing really good opponents in a playoff atmosphere with high speed and tons of traffic, we'll see some issues with him tracking the puck.

A potential improvement is to drop Kopitar and Doughty from special teams, including 3x3. They too often transform the #1PP into a predictable pass around the perimeter followed by low percentage, one timer from distance. They turn the PK into a more stationary box which can be (and is) beat more easily. They can't be aggressive because the speed to recover isn't there. On 3x3 they typically match up against the oppositions best skaters. Kings should use their best skaters. Is there a Kings rule that at least one of the 3x3 be a defenseman?

There is not, Bowman would have instantly put Federov as that D

They were good shots that beat Quick, Copley in his last game gave up 4 goals to a team that had 6 top players missing. I like Copley but until the defensive lapses diminish, no goalie is going to have success with the Kings.

Copley likely saves goals 2 and 3...both of those were over Quick's left shoulder if I remember correctly.

You still have to have a goalie bail you out from time to time. No way should that shorthanded goal gotten by JQ.

Agree 100%. Copley has been average but he's at least made the saves he should make with the occasional steal. Quick has not, to my recollection, stolen a game for the Kings this season.

If there is one bright side to the Kings' season, its that when we get average goaltending statistically, then we go 8-1.
