PLD and how I learned to quit worrying about the bomb

I don't see in PLD, a player that will do what it takes to take it to the next level. You see a player like Justin Williams and he has that killer instinct and rises to the occasion. To me PLD is just not interested. And that's him, and it sucks for the Kings but that is just him.
100%

That’s funny, I actually think of PLD as a Justin Williams that doesn’t execute.

I always thought Justin Williams made plays that were low percentage and shouldn’t work, but 90% of the time they did. And damn did he deliver when it counted most. What an absolute great acquisition by Dean Lombardi (amongst other great acquisitions).

Opposite of JDub. Williams always played with heart.

Kings could be playing for T-Mac's job tonight. I can't imagine losing 7 in a row and moving onto the next game without some type of repercussions. You can argue that every game (except Toronto) has been close. That is true, but you have to find a way to get it done. I think Daryl Evans mentioned on the post game show on Tuesday that the Kings are finding ways to lose. Well said.

The fans (including this one) are upset. We bleed Kings colors. We haven't seen a playoff series win in 10 years and are hungry for success.

Is Flake even on the trip?

Either way, I hope it works out for the best.

Go Kings!!

This gives me an idea...possibly the only solution...

...BRING BACK JUSTIN WILLIAMS!

Gordie Howe was 52 when he retired...and Williams is only 42...

I think it's going to take a bit more than this losing streak to cost him his job...but the seat is definitely getting hotter. I can imagine it will be very hot if the Kings don't manage to win at least 2 of the remaining 4 games on the trip.

I think that the bigger issue will be what happens when they come home. If they poop the bed on this trip and then again on the homestand...oof, it's going to get ugly in all sorts of ways. Watch the home attendance drop significantly for example. I have tix to 12 more games this season, it's going to be challenging to make the hour drive if they fall off the map.

Why would Blake be on the road trip? He should be in his office finding the next coach for our Kings. This can't go on. If they lose again tonight, McLellan should actually be history. Even Luc & Rob will have to concede TM has become ineffective and irrelevant.

He is the General Manager. At the end of the day the buck stops with him. I remember Dean would be on road trips, especially in the playoffs and certainly when things weren't going well. December 2011 he fired Terry Murray when the Kings were on a road trip. I believe they were in Boston at the time.

However, I will not disagree that he should be finding the next coach for our Kings. And certainly agree tonight the boys are playing for TM's job.

obviously I realize this is tongue in cheek, but I always got the sense that Justin Williams and the kings had a slightly acrimonious separation, given the fact that they did not deem him worthy of keeping around when it was contract time. He always seemed keen on being a part of the hurricanes organization activities after the fact, but not so much anything to do with the kings, save for their 10 year players Stanley cup reunion. No point really in pointing this out, other than to say that it sort of pains me that such a crucial piece of our cup winning teams seems to have distanced himself from the organization.

I do agree. I stopped watching a few years after 2014-5 I think.. something about Sutter firing, Brown demotion, a ton of players leaving, and then not having a real coach for a few years. Rubbed me the wrong way.

Ya know... Doobie played alright in Florida. He's a big body. Had a lot of control. Created a lot of chances. Hit a post. I'm sure he wasn't aiming at the post. Wasn't his fault that Fiala and Kempe took stupid penalties.

I guess I've stopped worrying about the bomb.

Doobie, still plays in spurts. He loves to watch a lot of the game, while out on the ice.
When it's 3 on 3 most everyone gets a chance.

Wonder how the 3rd linemate factors in? Taking this FWIW, aside from the obvious, Arvy would help PLD's CORSI/Fenwick...
He totally would, and Laf also. I think two players are required to make a lesser/younger player impactful. Byfield is much better with Kopi and Kempe, as an example. I think it’s a bit much to expect PLD to drag along two players, a rookie out of a college and a 21-year old yet to deliver away from the fourth line.
