Poor Lewie.
I knew there was no way they were going to play the game tonight. I was above Deukmejian Park in Glendale at about the 4000 foot mark and I could see all three fires simultaneously, one to the West one to the East and one to the South...it looked like I was in the middle of a war zone with bombs going off. I had to scurry down the mountain a little bit quicker than I wanted to. I've hiked in high winds before, but these gusts were hitting about 80 miles an hour and I had to carry my Dachshunds because they were literally being blown off the trail.
Talk about a workout...both my arms are sore. These Dachshunds are going on a diet!🐖

My heart goes out to all caught up in this awful tragedy. I lived and worked in Westwood for 4 years at the end of the 90s and remember seeing the skyline glowing and smelling the smoke and it was scary being there even then and being nowhere near the fires really at all. Losing homes on this scale and, of course, lives too is the ultimate tragedy, both for families and communities. I just hope people and especially those brave, battling firefighters can stay out of the fires' clutches, presumably now until they burn themselves out.

I didn't know where to put this but I wanted to express my thoughts on these terrible fires. It's so sad to watch the stories of whole blocks of homes burned. Houses that were in families for years are no more. The first responders have been awesome and citizens have banned together to donate to those in need. My thoughts are with everyone and hopefully the fires can be contained soon.
