Yep. Good to recognize the Kings bottom D pair was the first pair tonight. And that same bottom D pair have known each other for 5 days.
Love that rookies, Reign players, Lewis, and a laughing stock signing in Edmundson got this game to OT. Not to mention with an 18 year old goalie playing a shutout 3rd period. Glad for morale purposes in Utah the home team actually won.

Outcome was no surprise given Utah iced 75% of their nhl club against the Ontario Reign. That said, some notes and observations..
Players noticeable in a good way—Turcotte, Helenius(BIG and physical), Lee(guy has great wingspan acceleration).
Invisible— akil and Pinelli.
Painfully noticeable— Clarke(better start figuring out how to convert this kid to forward because he cannot keep up)

Clarke is trying too hard, as he has in every Kings game he’s played in so far. He needs to play games and get the pressure of making the team out of his system. He will not have a net good first quarter of the season. He may not have a good first half. But he will get through his growing pains with familiarity to being an NHLer.

I did not see the game, however, reading the comments about Clarke does not surprise me. I saw his last series and he was outmatched in the AHL playoffs. Give him another season in the AHL to mature. No need to throw him to the wolves at this point of his career. Kings need to be patient. Got to catch a plane.

I just hope the Varsity was watching from home how the Hockey Club was bitchin' & punking minor leaguers & dudes who will be sent back to juniors.
Special attention needs to be paid to "team leader" Liam O'Brien - who chirped at our bench after a rookie lost control and hit their goalie. Really dude? You're playing Ontario.

Didn't see the chirp, but I'll just say that everyone has their hackles up during preseason. Plus, this is the state of the game today. I've been watching some playoff games from the '80s lately on YT, and goalies getting bumped doesn't cause much of a commotion at all. Vastly different from today. ("No, not 'vast'.")

The Utah announcers made a big deal of O'Brien "skating past the Kings bench" - "giving them warning" - but "that's leadership right there"
Does he actually think that Jack Studnicka is going to be with the 'big club'? Then he picks a fight with Jeff Malott.
Then - Coyote tough guy Travis Barron picks a fight with Studnicka.

Hopefully making the big squad out of camp and a handful of ineffective NHL games will break him of the feeling that he’s the main character. It’s good to be humbled sometimes.
Clarke is still incredibly young for a d-man. If he stays on the NHL roster for 75% of the season I think everyone should consider his season a success regardless of what his counting stats show.
Reminiscent of Hodgson's hit on Mark Stone last year in preseason. Hodgson didn't even play on the Kings.

As a future game breaker, he doesn’t need to go down and dominate the AHL. He needs to learn what he can, and can’t, do in the NHL.
Generally speaking, not you specifically, what I find funny is posters who think this team is mediocre and may miss the playoffs saying Clarke isn’t ready. Not ready for what? That is the ideal team for a young player to learn from his mistakes.
