quarter century team

J~

What's up Doc?
No thread yet so let me give it my shot.

They are going to be announcing a first and second team for each franchise of players who played 2000-2025. Each team is 3 forwards, 2 dmen, 1 goalie. Here would be my picks.

First Team:

Forwards - Kopitar, Palffy, Robitaille
Defense - Doughty, Blake
Goalie - Quick

Second Team:

Forwards - Brown, Carter, Williams
Defense - Norstrom, Martinez
Goalie - Potvin

Even amongst those you picked I would change it to:

First Team:

Forwards - Kopitar, Brown, Carter
Defense - Doughty, Blake
Goalie - Quick

Second Team:

Forwards - Palffy, Robitaille, Williams
Defense - Norstrom, Martinez
Goalie - Potvin

And if it's 1/4 century it should be 2001-2025. Plus did Luke play well enough in the early 2000s with the Kings to warrant either a first or second team listing?

my take:

First Team:

Forwards -Frolov, Kopitar, Brown,
Defense - Doughty, Mitchell
Goalie - Quick

Second Team:

Forwards - Kempe, Carter, Williams
Defense - Norstrom, Visnovsky
Goalie - Potvin

Lots of guys that were on those early 2000's teams really only get 2-4 seasons with the kings for the cutoff so I had to drop em. Potvin is the shortest tenure I have but I don't think it can be measured just how much this team needed the goaltending that he provided at the time. I mean it was utterly shocking when he came and all the sudden the kings weren't giving up 3-4 a night as a given. Quick dominates so much of the rest of the tenure that its really not fair to anyone else. Mitchell was another key addition and while shorter than Scuderi, was arguably more of the final piece that they needed on the back end.

Always said, what if...
Deader Allison and Palffy

Kopitar, Frolov, Brown
Visnovsky, Doughty
Quick

Carter, Palffy, Williams
Muzzin, Voynov
Bernier
Really Bernier? I gotta know more
and moral issues aside since they both have them, Voynov over Mitchell? Willie did all the heavy lifting on that pair. Voynov just made DL realize JMFJ was expendable.

My 1st team -
Frolov - Kopitar - Palffy
Doughty - Visnovsky
Quick
My 2nd team -
Robitaille - Carter - Brown
Norstrom - Martinez
Potvin

I didn’t put Blake because he only played 2 years after coming back. But I put Robitaille because he had over 100 goals in 4 seasons. And I wanted to put Williams but I couldn’t. Kempe is honorable mention too & might have made it if he played longer.

My 1st team -
Kempe - Kopitar - Brown
Doughty - Green
Quick

My 2nd team -
Frolov - Carter - Williams
Scuderi - Mitchell
Potvin

I have no idea why someone would put in Robitaille over Kempe from 2001-2025. Kempe had over 100 goals in 3 years, plus 50+ additional goals in his earlier five seasons. Scuderi/Mitchell/Martinez/Green/Norstrom and even Regehr were all so essential... it was tough.

My 1st team:

Kempe - Kopitar - Brown
Doughty - Norstrom
Quick

My 2nd team

Palffy - Carter - Williams
Miller - Martinez
Potvin
