Quinn to Minnesota

This is a crazy gamble by Wild management. They’ll get one and a half seasons of Hughes guaranteed, but I have a feeling Quinn is going to do his damndest to ensure he ends up with his brothers in NJ, come 27/28 season.

Maybe Van saw the writing on the wall, and already knew he wasn’t going to extend into his UFA years with them.. and if so, this certainly is not the worst return of all time

They are going all in for 2 years.

Guerin is brilliant.

Love trades like this! The salary cap basically killed all the fun trade action we had earlier and that I thought was one of the best things about NHL when I was younger.

Yes, I know the cap should level the playing field and make everyone more equal, but that’s not as fun as when power houses like Colorado and Rangers traded for everyone all the time…

Given the situation, I think Vancouver did really good here. Quinn weren’t going to stay and this had become just another huge distraction for them.

I definitely do not disagree with this move on the part of the Wild. I would gladly have offered up QB plus a first round pick and something else for 1.5 years of Quinn.

And then he’d leave, Doughty would retire, and he e blow it up.

Makes complete sense.

All in with a 5'10 D-man as their co-centerpiece? That's very unlike you, Birdman. ;)

I don't think Wild can out-talent the Avs and clearly won't be able to out-tough the tougher teams...

This can of course change if more moves are made.

One of the few exceptions for me. That dude can scoot, and completely controls the game when he’s on the ice. He’s a modern day Paul Coffey, and I loathed that trade back in the day. It worked out, until we dealt both Sydor and Zhitnik away.

Unless injuries derail the Avs, I don't see a team getting by them.

Thats just me.
I don’t either, but this should cement MN in a divisional seed and face DAL in the first round who they can now beat. Like the Kings, Wild haven’t won a playoff round in over a decade. They can make progress by doing so and build on it this summer.
