***R1 GAME 3 Colorado Avalanche vs. Los Angeles Kings GDT 4/23/26 7:00pm on TNT,

This team has zero killer instinct when it matters. We don't have one player like Williams, Martinez, Quick, Brown, young Kopi, Doughty, and many others from 2012-14 when it comes to playoff intensity. Kempe and Panarin are bound to get some goals but it's just running the motions. Remember Doughty skating up ice singe handedly blasting one in? That's kinda what I'm talking about - it just doesn't exist on this team. The roster isn't good but we've been this way for 5 years at least - I blame leadership (sorry Kopi and Kempe) and coaching/management and the "we were right there" mentality that has also become our slogan. This team's identity is Byfield whiffing on a clear and allowing a goal. Fire Luc and start the rebuild! Making the playoffs this year was a fluke accident that shouldn't have happened and it will hurt us for a long time. I don't think we had any chance of winning this series but it's just what this team is and that's why I didn't watch much this year. Worst of all - it's boring and there's no signs it'll get better.

Exactly along the lines of what I was saying before the playoffs started. And yet some of us other fans still beg to differ. Well, the results don't lie. If you folks here think this current iteration of the Kings is going to pull a 2014-style reverse sweep comeback like they did with the Guppies, you're damn delusional.

This will be a series that Kempe will want to forget. Ugly stuff.
Just when you thought maybe he woke the fckk up, he goes and chokes on a brand new chicken bone. IMG_0207.gif

I’d bring Smith back for next season only because no one else worth a damn will want this job knowing that after they crash out next season, whoever replaces Luc and Holland will want to hire their own guy. Everyone decent on the market knows it’s a one year gig, tops.

Though Kempe had a HORRIBLE game, I don’t think this is a leadership issue. It’s a personnel issue. Kings are good enough to squeak into a playoff spot and then fade away. It’s been 5 year straight of this, I think. There’s no identity to this team. It’s been a hodgepodge for years now. At least Panarin is fun to watch.

This team exists but no one REALLY believes they’ve got a shot. Pretenders, at best.

Byfield’s hands of stone are tough to watch. However, it looks like he’s finally at least achieved exceptional NHL speed. In the offseason, I hope he works on shooting and board play. He’s a cupcake along the boards.

Colorado, is the polar opposite. Clear identity: speed and skill. The they also sprinkle in some toughness with Mason. I wonder if the games are close because they aren’t going full throttle against an inferior Kings team.

I noticed at the end of the game, none of the fourth line really tried to start any fights with Colorado. And, why would they? They know it’s over. They have no belief they’ll win game 4. If so, they’d be looking to send a message for the next game.

What makes you think Luc and Holland are going anywhere?

They’re not. Ownership doesn’t really care about the Kings.

Thanks Nyssa for the Greatest GDTs of the interwebs all season long.

They held on as long as they could and played as well as they can but the Avs are a much better team. Hopefully Kopi can leave Staples Center with a win on Sunday and extend our misery a bit longer.
