Dreger reporting Holland made a massive offer but he doesn’t want to play in LA. I don’t get it. I love in Ottawa and somehow this city seems to attract better UFA’s etc. make it make sense! Who wouldn’t want to play in LA?

I have a theory but it's so dumb, it just makes sense. The NHL players that are attracted to women, have to explain to the women in LA that one, they are athletes, two, there is a NHL team in Los Angeles, three, they are rich and four, they are a really big deal, just not in Los Angeles. You work hard your whole life getting very used to certain perks...it seems like fragile egos would rather keep the status quo.

Is this a primary reason: no. But, it's could be A reason.

Time and time again we see these players want to sign with a franchise that will do anything to win. Vegas has great ownership and A+ management . Yet somehow that message gets twisted into “they won’t sign in city X because of taxes!”

Born and raised in the LA suburbs. Lived in MB for 5 years in my mid 20's, best time of my life, however, it has changed. It's not the draw anymore. Maybe the players don't want to spend the type of money for homes, taxes and everything else. These might be some of the reasons, I don't believe it's the coaching. Whatever it is, they are not coming.

I know we need to prioritize a high level defender, and this open refusal to sign an extension with LA certainly hurts, but I think Holland should still make a concerted effort to acquire Kadri from the Flames.

Hermosa/Manhattan/Redondo Beach can be great, but the name LA has a horrible bad vibe to other states and people. There's a reason folks are leaving and complaining as they go.
