Saturday night began as a familiar sign for the Reign. They fell behind by a couple of goals early, only to battle back and tie things up. Then what happened?
Well, trailing 2-0 at the first intermission didn’t seem to deter coach Andrew Lord’s squad. For a team that didn’t have anything working on the power play for several weeks, it all came together. Martin Chromiak converted on the man advantage midway through the second frame and that cut the Barracuda lead in half. Akil Thomas assisted on the play, added to his team-leading point total.
Encouraged by where they stood after 40 minutes, Andre Lee came out and scored, not once but twice on the power play early in the third period. Although up 3-2, and holding their first lead of the game, it was rather short lived for Ontario. About six minutes later, San Jose tied things up again, and then eventually recorded the go-ahead goal with just a few minutes remaining in regulation.
In doing so, the Barracuda earned a win on home ice and even the season series at two wins apiece. They’ll finish things up with four games against each other in late December and that will do it for 2025-26… unless they meet up in the postseason again.
