Agreed, if anything this will be the cause of an early career exit for Turcotte. He hasn't been right since the concussions in the AHL but he is slowly starting to put himself in better defensible positions to not have to absorb big hits against the boards. If Crosby was able to fight through concussions and have a long career, I have hope that there is still runway for Turcotte to become a regular NHL'er despite the circumstances. Only time will tell, though.
When healthy, he has really good vision, hockey IQ, and high end playmaking ability. He also is one of our best faceoff guys and plays a solid 2-way game. He's also very tenacious and has the ability to get under the opposing team's skin.
Kings have consistently improperly utilized him, sticking him in a physical role as a 4th line checking forward (which is the ultimate logic for an injury-ridden skill forward). They called him something along the lines of a a jack of all trades when referring to him this off-season, which means they have had no real plan for him. Maybe that changes when Kopi retires and whether or not Laughton resigns, but for a team direly lacking in centers the Kings Org really needs to get their long-term planning together.
