Rosen hit the nail on the head

Yep, read this a few days ago. Meant to share it. "Starbucks and sandals", in that one pre-season interview with PLD (that I have mentioned a few times) I got the sense that this was why he chose LA. Winning anything was a secondary thought.

Timeline tale of the tape for AEG's LA professional sports franchises:

LA KINGS
Tim Leiweke and Dean Lombardi = Winner's mentality and championships

LA GALAXY
Tim Leiweke and Bruce Arena = Winner's mentality and championships

Tim Leiweke departs

LA KINGS
Dan Beckerman, Luc Robitaille and Rob Blake = Chase the $$ at all cost for AEG, underqualified front office hires in a nepotism, good old boys club. Winning and culture is secondary at best. Spend huge money on roster and acquire dubious "big name" player(s).

LA GALAXY
Dan Beckerman and Chris Klein and Jovan Kirovski= Chase the $$ at all cost for AEG, underqualified front office hires in a nepotism, good old boys club. Winning and culture is secondary at best. Spend huge money on roster and acquire dubious "big name" player(s).

They are mirror images of each other. A result of Dan Beckerman's absentee landlord managing style.

There is hope:

Galaxy fans revolted, boycotted, protested publicly, and stopped giving the club their money.
Dan Beckerman fired Chris Klein & Jovan Kirovski as a result of the fans boycott.
The front office received a major overhaul with outside personnel.
Club success has quickly followed both on and off the field. Future is bright.

Kings fans could have the same results, but they need to be vocal about it, and stop showing up to games, and stop giving the team their money. Until that happens, expect more of the same decade of mediocrity.

Yea, I've said the above over and over again, but Rosen just added more evidence to the above.

Over the years, I have only had 1 opportunity to talk with Rob Blake. He was an Assistant GM at the time and I just happened to be sitting next to him in the stands at training camp one year. I asked him who were the players he was watching most closely and why. I remember being very impressed by his answers as it seemed as though he was seeing way more than I was. That conversation was why I supported Rob in the beginning years of his stewardship. He sounded like an intelligent, perceptive and articulate guy.

I gave him slack over Kovalchuk and Stevens because those decisions were made by AEG execs, not Luc and Rob.

But the real Rob Blake is not the strong, incisive leader I had hoped he would be when he first took on the GM job. 3 people should not be running the team. The creation of this triumvirate with Bergevin and Robitaille has become more of an obstruction to improvement than a benefit. There must be change if the team is to move forward, Luc needs to decide who to support as the real GM and the odd man out needs to go. Once that question is settled, then Luc needs to get his butt out of the GM's office. The collective decision making has had a very poor track record these past 2 seasons.

But, it is my fondest wish that all 3 guys get shown the door. Team nepotism and Quebec nationalism be damned!

This will be a problem until they bring in an outsider that doesn’t have yo report to Luc to run things.
With Bergevin in the middle.

Bergevin always wanted PLD in Montreal. Bergevin comes to LA, PLD comes to LA.

When the Kings got PLD, I remember the look on Blake's face. He was not really excited about the move. His typical expression. Luc on the other hand, seemed more excited.

The season has not begun. Can’t we wait until October to criticize Blake and Luc and then completely destroy them when the Kings are out of the playoff race in December

I mean, I see where you are coming from. However, based on what has gone on the last 2 years I do not see a reason to wait.

Wow. He basically said everything this board has been saying since Lombardi.

Even still talking about Lombardi is significant in the overall context.
