Kings forward Jared Wright will rejoin AHL Ontario for their upcoming start to the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Through various sources, Mayor’s Manor has learned he is expected to rejoin the Reign at practice on Tuesday, in advance of their opening game on Wednesday night at Toyota Arena.
After earning a bye in Round 1, coming off the team’s first Pacific Division title in a decade, Ontario is now set to faceoff with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in Round 2.
Wright, only a first-year pro, began his season with the Reign following a three-year collegiate career at the University of Denver. The 6-foot-3 winger earned a national championship there, before signing an NHL entry level contract last April.
Prior to being called up to the Kings on March 2, Wright produced 30 points (17G, 13A) in 54 AHL games. — making him one of the more productive rookies in the league. Often skating on a line with fellow newcomer Kenny Connors, the duo quickly became one of coach Andrew Lord’s most trusted pairs.
Essentially, from that point forward, he became an everyday player for the Kings, both in the regular season and the playoffs.
However, he is eligible to be sent to Ontario now because the team made a paper transaction on March 6 that allowed him to qualify for AHL playoff action. That entire situation was explained in detail via the article below.
