***Tampa Bay Lightning vs. LA Kings GDT 1/1/26 4:00pm on FanDuel***

I know there's no real Kings media. It's all podcasters & team employees. But someone's got to ask 2 questions. What's wrong with QB & should he move to the wing? That's 1. 2nd is how long should Hiller keep his job? We can say all we want here & on twitter or elsewhere. But until those guys & management get asked those questions, where's the pressure?

This was a stunning collapse. From a sure win to a loss in 5 minutes. And aren't we supposed to be known for our defense? I can't say the 4th line was the best because Malotte & Helenius only played 7 minutes & Perry played 11. But they were most effective when they were in. Byfield needs to learn from these guys. Don't get cute, just put it on net. Instead he gets knocked off the puck or doesn't get a shot off. Actually his line is 19:01 toi, 0 pts, -1, 0 shots, 1 attempt blocked, 4 missed, 1 giveaway, 0 takeaways, 3/11 faceoff wins. Not good at all.

Did you forget the collapse in the playoffs last year? This team is the best at playing "the collapse".

The media is what kills me

We'll have Carrlyn in the past game framing it like the Kings outplayed the opposition by cherry picking stats. The Mayor will smugly claim that fans are overreacting for being in horror with this sh*t show. And nobody besides possibly Dennis Bernstein will ask an actual hockey question. Like why the hell is Q losing faceoffs left and right. And if he is, then why not put someone else out for critical draws.

The media in this town is disappointing. Kind of like the team.

It's been crap ever since Helene retired. Wonder if she posted on X about this game? She sometimes posts. (EDIT - yup, she posted)

I’m one of Byfield’s biggest defenders here and I haven’t given up on him yet although I would be stupid not to admit he’s been horse sh*t the last 10 games.

But this is spot on. How can he be allowed to take those faceoffs? To me that’s a bigger problem than QB sucking at the dot, that our 🤡 for coach doesn’t change this when it’s so obvious for anyone with even half a brain that right now it isn’t working…

It’s halftime at the Sugar Bowl and, like the Kings, Ole Miss is imploding after a good start.

What the Kings do an a breakaway…

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed that Kopitar would take the first penalty of the new year, nobody guessed Malott would be the first goal scorer:

This was the first game of the holiday break where I was able to watch with minimal distractions, and much as it has been for the last 4 years, this team has misplaced belief in their ability to hold a third period lead playing the prevent defense. To their credit they went toe to toe with a team that made them look silly (that first PP) at times but were able to respond. Once they hit the final 10 or so though it was obvious that they were playing like Hiller was going to bench anyone who touched the puck in the offensive zone. I'll posit this is an even bigger problem than their persistent rate of high danger scoring chances against on their own PP.

Agreed, I am one of the biggest QB fans out there but if someone continually struggles at the faceoff circle - put someone else in to take the draw then *if desired* move that player to his wing once the faceoff is over. Seems pretty basic. Laf won 3 of 4 faceoffs last game and 2 of 4 the previous game. Given Turcotte is now somewhat cemented at center, why not move Laf to Byfield's wing?

This does, however, highlight a problem with giving up Danault without getting a NHL level center back in return. The only centers we have who can currently consistently perform in the dot are Turcotte and Kopitar.

You can't expect to get a middle 6 NHL center in return from a team that needs a middle 6 NHL quality center in the first place...

There's still time to make moves, but the problem I see is that this year, there will be a lot of buyers and not many sellers...

I am amazed there were three of you contrarians! Well done!

The excitement and potential for this season is gone. I still will watch Kings games due to most games being set to record, however, if I get to them later in the night or fast forward in the morning, it won't matter.

I try not to look at my phone and the scores when the games are being recorded, however, it doesn't matter now. I would rather not waste my valuable time seeing them squander leads. The Kings top brass has sucked the life out of the fans as well as the players.
