Thank you Nick.

I'm probably older than most of you, but like most of you, I've never been alive for a Kings season that Bob, Nick, or both weren't calling games on some platform. Next year is gonna be weird.
I became an LA Kings fan the same year(1973), Bob Miller started broadcasting for the Kings. And as you mentioned ChiKingFan,next year is going to be weird without Bob,Nick or both won’t be calling the game in some platform.

I don't know why, but my 2 favorite things I learned about Nick this year was that he had a dad that was a legend in Rochester radio also named Nick Nickson. So our Nick is Nick, Nick's son. And also his real last name is Nickitiades. Which is Greek for son of Nick. In other words, Nick, Nick's son.

Anyway, thank you Nick. You're a legend & you'll be missed.

Slightly related - Ross Porter (former Dodger announcer for 25 years) has a son named Ross Porter. My sister married him, heh! So we say "Big Ross" for the retired announcer to differentiate.

The broadcasts won't be the same without Nick and Bob. We should still have some familiarity with Jim and Daryl doing color/commentary, though.

Thank You Nick!

I have just one last question: When is Adam Deadmarsh coming back?

Me too and it's taken me years to get over not having Bob call the games. Now Nick is leaving.... It could very well be that Nick is the last of the great announcers for the LA teams....

Nick has a voice that has been such a comfort to me. Back when the Kings weren't on TV all the time, I would get in my car and drive to a favorable reception area and listen to Nick call the game. King's Talk was usually as enjoyable as the game.
It is worth a chuckle to think that back then there was no internet. No streaming. No guaranteed good reception of AM radio in your home. No full season TV coverage.
This feels like a turning of the page in my life.

I think if we get Josh Schaefer we will be in a good place for Kings broadcasts. He's local, paid his dues and is quite good.
Do you think he would work well with Jim Fox?

I’ve never heard him so I don’t know how we would compare to Faust or anyone else.

He actually filled in for a few games earlier this season. He was good, I don't recall anyone really complaining about him. (in the game day threads).

I will really miss Nick. Even during bad games, he made the broadcast enjoyable. He also was top of this game for his entire career. And the end, Bob was slipping a little. Calling the wrong names and just seeming older. Nick was a beast his entire career. I loved him on the radio and on TV. He was a great broadcaster and his HOF selection is well deserved.

Josh was good in his limited fill in games. He was a lot better than the screaming clown Faust. Alex has gotten even worse on the national broadcast.

He definitely like to chatter. I think he does a good job calling the play but leaves very, very little room for Daryl to offer any analysis. Perhaps he’ll refine that if he does get the nod.
