That's a huge HELL NO from me!!!!

I didn’t mean to like this! Anyway, this is not a real rumor. It’s a trade proposal by a Canucks blogger. For an indication on how intelligent they are, the full proposal is Quick, Durzi, and one of Vilardi/Fagemo/Grans. Move along.

Honestly, I was going to do a side by side picture of Margaret Thatcher and Demko for laughs, but this picture was "funnier". And, here we are.

Clif-- noted, you did not like the post. lol.

Glad you thought that trade was funny too! I stand at ease. And yes, you I like, the post I don’t.

Agreed. Metrics like Goal Saved Above Expected have Quick and Cal in the bottom dozen overall and bottom 9 per 60 minutes. Our goalies have underperformed. So even if Quick or Cal was hung out to dry by the defense on a few of the goals, those are goals that the average goalie stops more often. FWIW, Copley has slightly negative GSAx now, basically middle of the pack to below average. And he's ended up with a great record so far. We'll get to see Vejmelka in person in about 10 days. Clear out some of the forward prospect logjam for him like a Kupari or Fagemo.

I'm warming up to this idea the more I think about it. A bunch of these kids are about to age out and they aren't ready to break into this lineup but the still could turn into good NHL role players. I wouldn't be heart broken if Blake takes a flier on Vejmelka.

Marty Biron's advice on Vej was interesting. He said "Buyer beware, its easy to look good when you're saving 44 on 48 shots against, can he do it in a 2-1 game when there's only 25-30 shots"

Not sure it's great advice, but its certainly a position I can see.

if we could get vejmelka for kupari or fagemo id probably do it. Not even for this season specifically. But i doubt the cost would be that low.

Well that when we had Sutter as coach. TM defensive system doesn't turn marginal goaltenders into good ones. It turns them the other way.

I guess Copley has been a figment of my imagination.

Given his sample size so far this season is 1,224 I think it's pretty safe to say that we'd see similar performance whether he faced 25-30 shots or 48. Biron makes a good point though that when the game is on the line, can he step up and be clutch. In many of the games he has played the Coyotes really haven't been in it, so I'm not sure anyone has a clear answer to that question.

Makes sense, but I wouldn't give up Kupari for him even straight up. I think as good as Vej may turn out to be, there are too many question marks (can he thrive in a winning environment within the NHL / Organization with real expectations, how will he do in the playoffs, can he step up and be clutch in key moments, etc) to give up a 1st round pick with top 6 potential for.

Logan Thompson just got helped off the ice for the Knights, so the price for an NHL capable goaltender may have just gone up.

He was starting to fade anyhow. That was another reason to make a move for Vejmelka-- you get the drop on another pacific team.
