This is what I think has/is happening.
With Nick retiring last season Josh became the heir apparent. When John Kelly became available, the brain trust probably figured Josh could use another year of seasoning on radio and hired John to fill the gap on tv. Jim is likewise looking toward retirement though he has not announced it yet, I believe. Hence the auditions for Stoll and Granato and Blake Bolden. I anticipate Josh and Stoll to take over next season, though I will miss O'Neal and Stoll on the pre/post game. I would like to see Sean O'Donnell give it a go but I don't think he would be interested.

If I heard correctly on Jesse Cohen's podcast, Alec Martinez is looking to get into the biz. Annnnnd he has moved back to LA. Maybe he will get an audition as well.

I thought I heard John has a 3 year deal. Martinez is doing play breakdowns on twitter right now...likely trying to get noticed a bit and fine tune what a color commentator might bring. Believe he's also been doing some stuff with Vegas. Wouldn't mind him coming into the announcer fold here IF he can bring some quality to the table.

If Stoll eventually replaces Fox, when he retires, I would like to see O'Donnell move back into Stoll's vacated role. Maybe OD wouldn't be interested in the role, but he was really good at it when he held it in the past.

Dustin Brown would be great too.
