Man, now we have to go back to rooting for the Quacks again? They just beat the Soilers and now they're facing the Blights in the second round. This has got to be the ugliest feeling for us Kings fans as it's a double-whammy of two teams we can't even root for. Ugh.

Go Wild, is all I have to say. If they get eliminated by the Avs, then I'm pulling for either Philly, Buffalo, or Carolina in the EC side of the playoffs. Montreal is a big no for me since their fans, as hardcore as they are, are as bad as Edmonton and Toronto fans.

Remember all those posts last summer about Mitch Marner not being a playoff impact player? I do…
I was one of them. To be fair, he didn't do much for the Leafs in the playoffs. He's definitely doing more on a much better team this season.

Per Bleacher Report:
n the aftermath of the Edmonton Oilers' disappointing first-round loss to the Anaheim Ducks in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it has been revealed that Connor McDavid was playing through a significant injury in this foot/ankle area.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said McDavid was dealing with a fracture "around the foot, ankle area" that was causing "a lot of pain."
Knoblauch confirmed the injury occurred early in the second period of Game 2 when McDavid collided with teammate Mattias Ekholm and Ducks defenseman Ian Moore.

I know the Oil fans love their excuses, haha, but the Oil were beat up. And they probably have playoff fatigue from the last two years which probably affected the Cats too. Still, lol, on the Oilers.

The Ducks/VGK series could turn out to be really good, actually.

Long playoff runs come with a cost. The Panthers & Oilers played more hockey than any other team two straight years. One didn’t make the playoffs, the other bounced in the first round.
Injuries caught up to both teams. But this Oilers team was not as good as their prior teams.
Entirely predictable that both teams would hit the wall.
The question is whether either team will rebound.

It’s almost comical watching Boucher get undressed with such regularity. That’s the price they are willing to pay for his offense. Works for them over an 82 game season, but his frequent gaffes present problems in a 7 game series.
Yep. Lots of money tied up for that.

I love watching the Oilers lose no matter the opponent. Only downside is they are so tired and beat up that had they managed to make the third round for COL to crush them then that’s even more hockey to take a toll. They get a good long break now.

They will target goaltending but Ekholm is showing his age and that system is far too loose. This is a team who could really benefit from Cassidy’s structure.

I seem to recall a team that won the Cup one year, lost in the Conf. finals the next. Followed that up in the 3rd year by winning the cup again even after playing in 3 x 7 game series before the final. Player fatigue is BS. Teams beat up? Sure. Panthers had injury issues all year long. They did not have Barkov all season and not a single player on the team played all 82 games. As for the Oilers? Screw them......

We all know the Kings history.
I think the FL injuries were mostly (not Barkov) due to being beat up (maybe why no players played 82 games) but we all have our opinions.

My comments focused on the Oilers being in their 3rd year of deep runs and getting ousted by the Ducks in round 1. The Panthers made the finals 3 years in a row. Lost the first year, but won in the next two. The Kings almost did the same as did the Blackhawks. Both teams won cups in year 1, CF in year 2 and another cup in year 3. The oilers did not get out of the 1st round in year 3. I am not going to agree that fatigue due to long playoff runs had anything to do with their loss. McJesus' foot injury in game 2 was a much larger factor.

Panthers were injury prone this year, but this was effectively their year 4. This team is one of the most physical of any team in the league. Could some of their injuries been due to to fatigue and wear and tear? That is possible and more understandable due to their physical style.

The guy who has 70 points in 76 career playoff games, and is +14? I mean, sure, lots of those are assists, but Mitch is more of an assist guy than a goal scorer anyways. Maybe those were all points accumulated in junk time blowouts, but I never saw Mitch as the problem, regardless of how unappreciative the Toronto faithful were of his performances. Just sayin..

He was clutch in the 4 Nations championship game too.

Imagine how Ekholm feels right now… it was completely accidental but injuring your team’s (or world’s) best player has to sting after getting eliminated.

I was tempted to bring that up too but didn't because I remembered 2013 was a very short season. One thing I cannot recall anything about was the Kings beating the Sharks in 2013.

Why though? I know what you mean, but McDavid is the dummy who ran into the back of Ekholm on that play, so I doubt Ekholm is sweating it.
