The Pacific Division Thread

With the poor goaltending tandem that Vegas has,it would not surprise me.
Out of the three teams, the Kings, Oilers and Knights, the Kings had the best goalie early on this season, Darcy was stealing games and securing pity points to keep the Kings in the playoff race.

Fortunately the Oilers and Knights did not have that luxury, however, their other players kept them in the playoff race. Since Darcy is no longer the goalie he once was, we found out quickly the other Kings players are not good enough.

There should have been an elbowing call on the Lightning player with about 5 minutes left in the third period, but the ref decided to swallow his whistle.
The Preds are now becoming the latest version of the Seattle Kraken(#41 in the Blues game a couple of weeks ago)take the lead and then find a way to lose in regulation led by #71(Woods),and in this game#76(Skjei)on the GWG by the Fairy.I guess we shall see which Preds and Kings team show up on Wednesday for the battle of the WC2 spot

With the Leafs scoring the GWG with 5 seconds left in OT beat the Ducks 5-4.Vegas with Torts as their new head coach, hang on to beat the worst team in the NHL or close to it,beat Vancouver 4-2.And finally with 21 seconds left in the game Guadette of the Sharks scores the GWG to win the game 5-4.
Here is the updated version of the WC2/3rd place in the Pacific Division standings as of Monday 3/30/26

For the first time in a long while the Kings are finally in the WC2 spot1 point ahead of the Preds and Sharks, who came back from a 3-2 deficit by scoring 2 goals in minute span late in the game, and the GWG tallied with 29 seconds left to win the 4-3 in regulation.A big game vs the Preds Thursday night on Celebrate Kopi Night.
Here is the update on the WC2/3rd in the Pacific Division standings as of Wednesday 4/1/26.

Sharts have a game in hand though. It's going to be tough, judging by the Kings' struggle even against the worst teams of the league...

Welcome to the 30-win club for the Kings. Tonight's game will be tough due to the celebrate Kopi night. That is the distraction they don't need; then again, it might be a blessing as well.

Sometimes those ceremonies cool off the opposing team, especially if this is a 30 minute+ Kopi-palooza.

I expect 5 shots on goal total for both teams first period.

I feel from LA down to Calgary in the Pacific, they are basically the same and include Chicago in the mix from the Central. Vancouver is in a class of their own.

I see the Preds blew another 3-0 and were tied with the Sharks 3-3,now the Preds are ahead of the Sharks 4-3 with under 5 minutes left in the third period. The Preds just scored a SHG to give them a 5-3 lead with 2:34 left in the game

With the Kings getting the extra pity point on thier win vs the Preds tonight for 82 points, they are now in the WC2 spot by 1 point over the Preds and 2 points over the Sharks
As of Monday 4/6-26 here is the updated WC2/ 3 rd place in the Pacific Division standings:

Please, Kings, stop forcing OT situations and just purposely lose your last remaining games of this season, preferably in regulation. Spare us fans from seeing your lot getting your keisters handed to you on a silver platter by either Anaheim, Deadmonton, Vegass, or any of the top ranking Central Division teams if you ever make it to the playoffs. You're definitely not the 2012-2014 Kings. As for the other Pacific and Central Division teams, why don't you win your last remaining games to mathematically eliminate the Kings from the playoffs? At least it'll give us fans some mild comfort from seeing our Kings getting embarrassed in the playoffs again.

I hate this kind of thinking. The way the Pacific Division is, we don't know who's going to beat who. It's wide open. Even Colorado's not guaranteed to win anything. Plenty of President's Trophy winners have been bounced in the 1st round. Also, does anyone remember being here in 2012? Because I do. And 90% of the board thought the Canucks were going to crush us in 4 or 5 games. But they didn't. Which is why they play the games because you never know,

There’s a spectrum of potential, and this team is low on that spectrum. However I would be confident against the Ducks and fairly confident against the Golden Knights. Unfortunately I don’t think 5 games is enough to catch up to division seeding, although the Ducks are spiraling at a bad time.

Agreed, I think we could take the Ducks. Kings are a team build for the playoffs and the large bodies on D will be an asset.

We would need a goalie to catch, and stay on, fire to do much, however.

2012 no one was beating Quick.
