Makes sense. And that would instantly make the Ducks a very formidable team... Quenneville, McDavid and all that high-end young talent. Scary.

But I was thinking McDavid to the Kings, which also makes sense. I seem to remember another world-class hockey player being traded from the Oilers to the Kings.

On what planet does McDavid to Kings make sense? He wants to win a title, not get his wife acting jobs in Hollywood.

Honest question - as low as the Kings fell this season, if you took McDavid off the EDM roster and added him to LA, would the Kings not have been better than EDM was (with him) this year?

I feel the answer is a clear "Yes", but open to your opinion.

Kings current defense is missing a point producer and overall mobility. Oilers have the point producer at least.

Janet got a few acting gigs, but it didn't really propel her career very far.

Anyway that was a poor attempt at humor... along with some wishful thinking...but it would be hilarious. First Gretzky, then McDavid. Safe to say there would be rioting in the streets of Edmonton...probably burn Rogers Place to the ground.

I agree. But man oh man, if you put McDavid on the Ducks, that would be an offensive juggernaut. I mean who could keep up with that?

I'd say yes, but I don't think it is a clear yes.
Draisaitl is better than any Kings forward including Panarin.
Shaq Hyman is probably tied with Kempe and Bread.
RNH ia a good piece and probably equal to Byfield/Kopi in terms of production.
Bouchard is better than any Kings D hands down. Ekholm is their Doughty.
Edmonton's problems are their goaltending is awful and there is nobody notably good in their bottom 6 and bottom D pair(s). But the both teams feel like teams stuck in the middle to me. The Kings got decent goaltending while Edmonton had crap goaltending. Bowman traded Kulak and a pick to get the same or worse goaltending. The Oilers remind me of Philly the prior 2 years-- teams ruined by terrible goaltending. I like the Kings 3rd line a lot more but McDavid in Anaheim equals an instant contender with a 5+ year window.

After really thinking it over, I would say the Kings are an upgrade on Edmonton (better depth and goaltending but missing a Drai and Bouchard, plus some decent young players) but Anaheim would be a slam dunk.

Well said and I totally agree with you. I wonder if McDavid regrets signing the extension with EDM as Anaheim currently can free up the cap space to fit him in without shipping off a core piece in the process (which likely will not be the case for too much longer once they need to resign core players).
 
Adding McDavid to any team means giving up top-tier player(s) in return. That instantly changes the team dynamic and the locker room vibe. Sometimes it is a good change sometimes not. Kings were fortunate to acquire Panarin without giving up a roster player.

Was gonna post similar, who do you give up? Biggest asset the Oil needs is Goaltending?
