The Star Wars thread

Episodes 1-3 don't exist in my Star Wars universe. They sucked out loud.

Episode 6 is a close one to the same suckfestesnest.

Which brings me to this question:

My kid hasn't seen any of it and I want to show her the ORIGINAL versions of the original movies.
So how do I do that? Are they out there on Bluray or DVD? Or is it all the "reimagined" stuff that came out in the late 90s?

Good question, the DVD's I have all have the added crap.

There were DVD editions that had both the Special Edition and the original ones on another disc, but the originals are not remastered or anamorphic. They look pretty bad, but it's better than nothing.

I wonder if Disney will release remastered versions of the original. They'll probably release Song of the South before that. mhihi:

A copy of the original trilogy as Star Wars: The Definitive Collection can be had on LaserDisc for about $40. Perhaps this is the cleanest version of the original theatrical cuts. It even comes with a cool book. Of course, then you also need a working LaserDisc player.

I have this version. I might as well use the new versions as coasters.

Well...no VHS or Laserdisc player (though I had one for a bit and still have quite a bit of anime on laserdisc).

Damn.

I need to pull it out of storage, but I'll test my Laserdisc player. If it works, and if you want, you can borrow it and my copy of The Definitive Collection. It's for the best reason, as far as I'm concerned. :D

Ya know, there was a time I thought you might be sane.
That time has passed.
