Dreams and Visions Press has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds to publish our latest book, a 432-page hardcover collection of artist Ralph McQuarrie’s non-Star Wars work entitled: The Art of Ralph McQuarrie: ARCHIVES.
Produced for PBS, "From Star Wars To Jedi: The Making Of A Saga," narrated by Mark Hamill, first aired on December 3, 1983, seven months after "Star Wars: Episode VI — Return Of The Jedi" had hit theatres. And it's good stuff. George Lucas takes a center role in this one talking about his creation, filmmaking in general and much more, with lots of behind-the-scenes footage. And it's funny/sad to hear him say things like, "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing," considering how tedious the prequels would prove that prophecy to be.
Oh man. I want to click the link and yet I don't want to click it. I want to know but I think I will try and hold off. I would like to go into the theater without any preconceived notions but that will be hard to do with the media blitz this film will have.
I am afraid of being disappointed. The original trilogy were simpler movies in simpler times. Episodes 1-3 seemed really complex and I became confused with the storyline. Then there were the special effects. Information overload. I do have some hope as Abrams was able to pull off the Star Trek reboot as I like that. It didn't have the original cast in it either (well, ok, there was one) which is even more important to pull off this new movie. All I can say is that I am hopeful.
Understand your reluctance. Up to you of course, but very hard to be surprised in this day and age.
If it helps...it's a very simple concept. Actually a great use of past history(the good stuff) and a simple open ended platform that is a GREAT starting point for what they are planning. Lots of room to develop, and yet, it will feel very familiar, like a comfy pair o'shoes. I felt the first tinge of optimism when I read.
The SPOILERS don't say much and I question the validity of them considering, things not designed to withstand the rigors of re-entry through a planets atmosphere burn-up when they do so, so the whole premise is silly.
