Nice.

Drew Struzan artwork from today... Woah! Did not expect a certain someone to be the one holding the lightsaber... :)

It's not bad. It's still the same park on the inside. The front gate is still in the same spot there and you dip onto Main Street right after that. The parking lot (where I remember all those cars they gave away in the 80's for their 25th or whatever it was) is now California Adventure. THAT feels a little clunky, but it's not too bad.

Did Anaheim cave on the ticket tax? Star Wars Land is going to bring in $$$.

What Is Star Wars: Rogue One?

Yesterday, during the D23 Expo celebration the first image of the cast of the first stand-alone Star Wars movie was release, Star Wars: Rogue One. So what is the film? Well, if you ever wondered exactly how the Rebels got the plans for the Death Star… this is the story. Kathleen Kennedy said:

Rogue One’ takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe. It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for ‘Rogue One.
The film will be directed by Godzilla’s Garth Edwards. It will star Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, and Riz Ahmed. Veteran ILM visual effects supervisor John Knoll, who shares a long history with the Star Wars movies, dating back to the mid-1990s, originated the idea for the movie.

Star Wars: Rogue One is scheduled to be in theaters December 16th, 2016

Dat cast, tho.

^ As the Twitter hordes were screaming on the weekend, it's actually ROTJ Death Star #2 which referenced the 'many Bothans died line'... but there have been several now-toasted EU stories about the first plans.

Use to work at Disney. At least when I was there the one day or multi day passes were far cheaper than those that were sold at the Florida parks. On the flip side, season passes at Disneyland are far more expensive than the season passes sold at Disneyworld. Reason for this being is that a majority of people going to Disneyworld are tourist, while a majority of the people who go to Disneyland are season pass holders. It's a actually a big issue at Disneyland that a majority of people there are pass holders because the logic goes that pass holders take away additional revenue Disney would get from tourist who would likely stay in the resort area.

So I guess my point is I'm actually surprised they decided to build Star Wars land in Disneyland seeing how they were always actively trying to get people (pass holders) away from Disneyland and into California Adventure. When Star Wars land comes around no doubt prices across the board will go up, but those who will feel it the worst will be easily by far be the season ticket holders. I have no doubts in my mind Star Wars land is only being built in first place to steal away tourists from Harry Potter land at Universal, and whenever SW land eventually does arrives season tickets will skyrocket in price, and dip and quality. My guess is they will phase out the Southern California passes, and will add an obnoxious amount of black out dates to what use to be the top tier passes. Also have a feeling parking being included with your season pass will go the way of the sky buckets.

The Star Wars saga begins again this Friday

The world of Star Wars was shaken when Disney purchased Lucasfilm, and one of the most drastic changes to the property was the fact that the Expanded Universe was wiped clean.

No more Thrawn. No more Yuuzhan Vong. No more moons falling on beloved characters. Those stories are still there to read, but they no longer matter in the world of Star Wars. They are now tears in the rain.

Disney wanted to start fresh, and bring every new aspect of Star Wars in pop culture under a single timeline. This Friday, that timeline takes its first breath.
