I mean, she's CLEARLY one of those "fake geek girls" who knows nothing about the fandom. People like KingsFan1985 obviously know more than she does. She should stop pretending.

I read this, and among one of seven the reasons was that the narrator (presumably Luke) in the latest trailer for SWTFA says "My father has it - he's referring to Darth Vader in the present tense, as if he's still alive.

Well, if you'll recall the scene in SWROTJ where Luke has a conversation with Leia, and she finds out they're siblings (catwalk on Endor) - this is just about word for word what he says to her there (though a little reordered). So yeah, in ROTJ, his father was alive.

I don't need to go to the rainforest to know it rains a lot over there. On that same note, I don't need read EU to know no hot chicks read EU.

Without getting into a giant hipster rant, I'll just say if this were ten years ago the only way you would see these type of women at these conventions is if they were paid to be there by corporate sponsors. Sorry to break the illusion, but almost all attractive women don't care for these types of things, and we shouldn't confuse look at me cosplay culture with actual fandom.

Personally I don't blame women for not being giant fans of the SW universe. The SW universe is ripe with strong women characters who eventually deteriorate into fap bait, or manic pixie dream girls. Especially if we are talking about expanded universe.

I just figured he was talking about ghost Hayden Christensen. In case people forgot that is still a thing in this universe...the ghosts, or spirits, or whatever the hell George Lucas is calling that now a days.

Dude. Just stop. Your assumptions are ridiculous and all they do is continue to perpetuate stupid myths and "rules". You made a comment, were shown to be more wrong than you know, and now you double down. Like I said, stop.

Here is her instagram page where there are a few more shots. Is she a true fan or not? That's for you to decide. I really don't really care. What makes me upset is I didn't get to meet her at the convention.

As someone who went to these types of things 10 years ago I can tell you from first hand experience that what I'm talking about isn't an assumptions, but a observation I made about what's been going on the last few years with nerd culture. Not to brag but I know a few attractive women who didn't give a crap for nerd culture a few years ago, but in recent years have slowly become sort of half arsed nerds. I'm also very familiar with cosplay culture and the sort of transformation it has made in recent years from being something that was just for the ultra hardcore fans, to being something that is just primarily for fairweather attention whores.

The fact she dressed as something I choose not to want to know about doesn't change my opinion that she dressed that way because:

1. She thought the Matrix was Star Wars
2. She actively went looking to find what the slutiest outfit in the SW universe was outside of Leia's slave bikini, and a wookieepedia search came back with Luke's offspring.

By the way I want to make it clear that I'm not opposed to hot chicks dressing up in slutty cosplay outfits, I'm just mearly pointing out that there's a decent chance she probably cares more about us fapping to her than she cares about the SW universe. I also hope your not arguing that my point about the SW universe being kind of sexist is a "stupid myth", when we are talking about women dressing up in slutty Star Wars outfits at conventions.

I feel kind of foolish talking about this because it feels like I'm telling my friend that the Hooters waitress is only pretending to like you just so she can get a bigger tip. It's not really worth getting all worked up about what level of fandom this chick has.

It also doesn't bother me that some of things I like are inherently sexist, as long as I'm aware of it. For the most part nerd culture is a boys club; always has been and always will be. As boys we like pretty things, and especially pretty things with big boobs. I don't deny I like that stuff, but I'm not going to get all worked up arguing over Oliva Munn's supposed geekdom or trying to defend that big boob chicks in a sci fi universe isn't a little sexist.

It does frustrate me a bit that I have good friends who can never get into relationships because they are all too busy obsessing over chicks like this, instead of going after attainable women who have a genuine interest in the things they like. I guess that's where the angst in my original post came from. I'm aware it sounds like I'm really trying to put down this girl, and to an extent I kind of am, but I do so in the context that I'm only putting her down so people don't build her up into something she's most likely not.

Anyone else buy the Digital Saga that came out last week???

HOLY S**T, is it beautiful! Watched Ep. 4 with the family last night and the HD Quality is absolutely breathtaking! My wife and I sat there with our jaws agape for the whole thing. It was almost like a brand new movie.
