Legendary ‘Star Wars’ Composer John Williams Has Never Actually Seen ‘Star Wars’

SPOILERS FOR R1 BELOW

Why didn't the empire just shoot down the satellite tower? Was Forrest Whitaker simply too tired to leave? Did he have something in the oven? Was anyone in this movie important enough to have more than a thumbnail sketch of a character. Jyn Erso being the worst example. She literally just floated from event to event. The one time she did get mad and show emotion, it went away really quick. And...why did this movie, a Star Wars movie, get BORING. I know you guys loved it, and I realize I am getting a rep as a killjoy...but this was closer in tone and style to one of Lucas' misadventures than it was to TFA.

Prayer's for Carrie Fisher who had what has been described at a massive heart attack on a flight from London to LA today. Apparently 10 min before landing at LAX. Last report is she's in critical condition. 2016 can already F-Off...let's not make it even worse.

I think the only part that was bordering on boring or slow was the initial set up of characters. I thought the key characters were more developed than you felt but I can understand where you might want more depth. Unfortunately, with an ensemble cast like this, moreso than most SW movies, it's probably too difficult to give them much more depth. I bought in to all of them and their motivations.

Carrie Fisher’s Beloved Dog Gary by Her Side at Hospital After Heart Attack: Report

Stable condition...no further news. They use the term 'as she recovers' in the article, so...thoughts and prayers

Debbie Reynolds (her mom) tweeted she is in stable condition as well. Thankfully, the EMT and nurse administering CPR on the plane my very well have saved her life. My aunt went through a similar experience (sans airplane) and immediate CPR is the only reason she's alive and healthy today.

Rewatched RO today and man that ending third is even better the second time. So many feels too.

I'm a HUGE Star Wars geek. Saw the original in 1977 when I was 14. Ended up watching it 33 times in the theater (it was in the theaters for close to 2 years here in Las Vegas [RIP Parkway 3 theaters]).

I have, literally, a garage full of toys from 1977 UNOPENED! (Need to see how much these may be worth now-a-days) and 2 of the original, theatrical release, unfolded Revenge of the Jedi movie poster. My ex wife worked at the Parkway Theaters and scored me the two posters when they were sent to the theater as promotional material. These things are huge! :D

Obviously, I have the mandatory sentimental attachment to the OT...and being one of the "original" Vader fans (back in 1977 when it was not popular), ROTJ was my favorite, due to Vader turning out to be the hero.

But while my heart is with ROTJ, my mind logically put ESB and SW ahead of ROTJ.

Having said all that, my heart is till loyal to the OT...but my mind says Rogue One is the third best of the SW movies. That last scene...man, that last scene!!

My younger brother was literally speechless when I told him I'd rate RO #3 behind only ESB and SW.

Personally, I'd go:

Empire
Star Wars
Rogue One
Jedi
Sith
Force Awakens
Phantom Menace
and ::ugh:: Clone Wars

This movie makes very good connections in filling in the gaps from the previous movies, but there is one little thing that bugs me. If I recall correctly, Princess Leia claimed that she was on a diplomatic mission in the opening of Episode IV, but that seems like an absurd claim given the end of this movie.

I get where you're coming from. I think your point is that Vader just followed them from the battle on Scarif and knows full well what's up. However, consider: this actually explains and plays perfectly into the rage Vader demonstrates every time he hears that lame story in the opening scenes of SW. Leia (and the rest of the crew: remember Capt Antilles also claimed the same thing), are just throwing as much smoke as they can at Vader. Why?

She knows Vader saw them unlock from the rebel cruiser back on Scarif and there is no escape, so she is trying to do whatever it takes, including trying to troll Vader, to buy R2-D2 time to escape and make contact with Obi-Wan Kenobi. I mean, they just tried to stop Vader from boarding her ship and they even opened fire on his boarding party...not exactly the act of "innocent" diplomats. She knows she's been busted trying to hide something.

Another argument is that Leia is from Alderaan, how could she be on a diplomatic mission to her homeworld?

Princess Leia is the Senator representing Alderaan in the Imperial Senate. However, after receiving this assignment, she is permanently stationed in Coruscant. She may have been trying to alude to the fact that she had been dispatched on official business back to the systems she represents, i.e., Alderaan. So, she can officially say she's "on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan".

Pretty amazing...It was noticeable that both characters were CGI but maybe because I knew what to look for (for Tarkin at least). Felt that the Tarkin face was far better than Leia.

This all leads to a question I'll pose for you. Do you do the following for Ep IX:

1) CGI Leia, she was supposed to have an expanded role. Would her estate even allow it?
2) Somehow kill Leia off in EP VIII or early in IX.
3) Recast the Leia part...seems like blasphemy but I've heard this suggested. Could her part be so important that that's the only real solution to keep the integrity of the trilogy?

Will be interesting to see how the proceed, suppose we'll hear in the next year or so.
