Tony Granato filling in for Fox.

Seems like Foxy is also looking to retire from broadcasting soon. Good time to bring in a new color person as they are working Josh Schaeffer into the main PxP (I'm assuming that's what they are doing - nothing officially announced for him yet, either, and John Kelly is doing this road trip) Or maybe they are planning to go with rotating color guys as a few teams do (the article mentions Stolly is gonna do a few games later in the season along with Ferraro & Granato)

Watching & listening the last 3 games - it seemed like a national broadcast.
I'm so used to hearing Fox with Nick or Bob with a little Daryl thrown in. I've listened to Josh on radio.
But Tony with Kelly...it wasn't comfortable (for me).
I like the same two announcers every game.
That's home (to me).
I wonder if it's an organizational
thing? Or a FAN DUEL thing?
The Angels do the same thing...and it blows....especially when Patrick O'Neal calls the games.
YIKES!

I like the change of pace. I think because i find this season completely irritating, having somebody else besides Foxy is refreshing.

I tried to watch the game last night. I just don't like John Kelly's way of calling the game. I know this is a result of being spoiled by Bob and Nick, but it seems to me that just about anybody can simply state the name of the player with the puck and not describe the game at all.

Seemed like Kelly was solo. I kept forgetting Granato was even in the booth.
Razor was way better.

My sense is that Fox is moving into pseudo retirement, with the goal of not doing this his remaining years, so this is an Oppy for the team to test drive some others.

For those that don’t understand, work travel is brutal. The longer the trip, the more flights you have, the harder it is on your body. They’re flying chartered air, but even so, they get in late and have limited sleep. He’s lived this for 3 decades, and has likely seen how it has impacted his former play by play partners, and maybe has decided to have a few breaks throughout the year.

I agree on both counts - we were extremely spoiled having Bob and Nick, both of whom were able to paint a picture.

As many of the above posters have already noted, I do believe that we are slowly being tapered off of Jim Fox, who is probably set for imminent retirement at the end of this season, or possibly with next season being his last.

Regarding the new play-by-play guy, he’s definitely got the chops, but I think he’s also just a high-quality fill-in until Josh Schaffer is ready to take over. Kelly as the play-by-play guy has not really won me over, and I don’t think he ever will. It definitely feels like a national broadcast with him and the stand in color folks like Granato(either of them). My concern for the broadcast team moving forward is that Kings management tries to get cute and bring in a female color analyst, after Fox retires. Which in my opinion, would make an already painful viewing basically unwatchable.
