55 & 22 should be the nucleus of the top line next year. When Kopi moves down the lineup, what happens to Juice and Kuzy? There is no one in the system to even become 2C in the future. But if Greentree on the wing actually is who we think he is, would trading Kempe + ? for a stud left shot first pairing d'man make sense?

I can’t abide by trading Kempe. Heart and soul of the team. Should be the next captain. Does it all. Even playing with a slowed down Kopi he still produces and is so responsible. The second line center issue is independent of who he plays with, but true we have no one to fit that bill. Turcotte can become a third line center at best, or a middle 6 winger.

I think the puck moving LD ship has sailed. Hoven makes it sound like a Gavrikov extension is imminent.

So if long shot Bennet doesn’t work who does, tough question. Older stop gaps exist in Nelson, Donato, and Duchene. I’m not opposed to Nelson next season, but not sure the other UFAs are a bigger upgrade over Danault and punting this issue to the summer after.

I completely agree about Juice remaining with the team. He is the heir apparent for the “C”. Only would consider it if “That Guy” we have wished for were somehow made available…

I could offer a not-so-serious possibility for 2C… put Kempe back in the middle. He grew up playing center and, like Kopi, his dad was a hockey coach.
