With the NHL Trade Deadline just a few hours away, the Kings have made their first move. GM Rob Blake has acquired 29-year-old forward Andrei Kuzmenko and a 2025 seventh round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a 2027 third round pick.
A native of Russia, Kuzmenko is a right shot forward who has scored six goals this season over 34 games split between the Flyers and Calgary Flames. He is also on the final year of a two-year deal that carries a $5.5M cap hit. However, the Flyers are retaining 50% of his cap hit as part of the trade.
Last season, the 5-foot-11 winger recorded 22 goals while splitting time between the Canucks and Flames. He had 39 goals the season before.
Most recently, Kuzmenko had been playing on the Flyers second line as a left wing. Exactly where he is expected to slot into coach Jim Hiller’s lineup is not known at this time. We’ll update this article with more information later in the afternoon as further details become available.
This is the very definition of a typical depth move made by NHL GMs on Deadline Day.
