Trade Quick? Yep!

I'd go with Patrick Roy in 93. The Kings absolutely dominated 4 out of 5 games in that Cup Final and lost 3 of them because of him. That Cup run was Roy winning it for a fairly average Montreal team.

Were you on drugs during that time? That Montreal team was loaded.

All this trade Quick talk now is useless, No GM is going to take Quick and his contract the way he is playing. The time to trade Quick was two seasons ago but many on this board were too loyal to Quick. Many forgot that this is a business' and loyalty is to building the best team possible that gives them the best shot at winning the Cup and not to players who produced in the past. Quick will retire a King, Blake didn't trade Brown and he won't trade Quick because of the mentality that Brown help them win two Cup. Well Quick was just as value if not more in winning those two Cups.

Did the Kings get 2 firsts and a prospect? You might want to reconsider that victory lap.

They got rid of his salary and received two upgrades to the roster. The return would have been better if they traded him before this season like I had wanted.

You can hate on this move all you want but there are 20 people in this thread who acted like I was an idiot for wanting to move him. I doubt a single one admits they were wrong.

Predicting his decline was easy knowing his age and the injuries. Blake would have gotten more if he moved on earlier.

Im not going to go re-read everyone's comments, but i dont think i implied anybody was an idiot. I still think this is maybe not the best move from a culture standpoint, but im unclear on what was discussed between him and blake. On the one hand, it sound slike Quick was pretty unhappy with the trade. On the other, reports are he had no intention of retiring a king next season. So in that regard, the trade starts to make a lot more sense.

Never thought I'd see this.

We have Quick for one more year. He won't be making 5.8 million with us again. If he is the Quick he was in the playoffs, we are good.

I still do not trust Cal.

But if I need a car or truck, I go see Cal. If I am looking for a deal, try a Ford or Oldsmobile, go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal.

I never flamed you HTK. But I still stand by this tweet.
