I actually did miss the first period, yes.Did you miss the first Kings goal?

He was supposed to punish guys for going to the net. Tonight he was definitely an intimidating presence. This is the most physical game he’s played as a King. Which is pretty funny because he was signed specifically to be a big physical presence.
Agreed! He gets my player of the game. Any player that hits pos Kane is my hero!
His best contribution all game--getting out of the way.Kempe with a freebie. Nice footwork by Byfield.
Along with massively whiffing on the shot attempt that somehow found its way to Kempe. His best contribution all game--getting out of the way.
Makes you wonder how many ‘offside’ goals have been allowed to count throughout the history of the NHL, before these reviews existed.Seems like every game we go to has a couple of successful offsides challenges. God I hate that rule! Slows down the game something awful. There has to be something they can do to change that.
2014 playoffs is the last time I remember it being good. We literally lost the 2018 playoffs to the VGK because we couldn't score a PP goal (or any goals), and it's been downhill ever since. Our power play is an unmitigated disaster. And it's been this way for so long I can barely remember the last time we had a decent one.
People say it's our Achilles heel, but I disagree with that description. This is full-blown kamikaze.

Nyssa’s Trade Train!!!!My Danault Rant:
when I was at the game on Nov 6th, I was in "fancy seats" (section 215) and yelled out something to the effect of "Come on, Danault, you have zero goals and only 4 assists, and it's game 15 of the season!!" Some people around me laughed, some gave me evil stares for dissing Danault. Cut to today - He STILL only has 4 assists & we've just finished game 25.
I'm not even sure he ever actually touched the puck tonight (?). I vaguely remember him making a pass in the 3rd period near the blue line, so he must have touched it once. If he's injured, I'll give him a break, but if he just hates Hiller as much as the rest of us do, he needs to get on the Trade Train quickly! I mean, he should have at least a couple more assists just by accident by now. And I don't feel like whatever defense he's bringing to the table, if any, offsets his lack of scoring production.
I'm sure you are a cool dude, Danault, but you're almost as bad as Nick Shore* this season. (*insert your own "worst Kings player of my lifetime" here)

It might be this call that justifies review still being used for offsides.
Something needs to be done about Danault. It's not just the 0 goals, it's the 4 assists in 25 games. Which is unacceptable. If he's injured then he needs to get benched & put Turcotte on the 3rd line & Helenius on the 4th. And if he's not injured then I don't know, still bench him? Or put him on a line that will get him going offensively. Either way he's a black hole right now. And it sucks because I've liked him for so long.My Danault Rant:

Agree, mostly, except for reviewing a play blown down for offsides. That would slow it down even more. I like the idea of replay at normal speed, and if it can be overturned based on that (as would have been the case for the 1980 play) then yes, overrule it. Otherwise, forget it. Yesterday's game shows how ridiculous it's gotten. Every time a goal is scored, you wonder if it will be reviewed. It takes away from any excitement. In football that can sometimes happen with a penalty, but at least when the play is over you can see a flag and know right away there's a chance it won't count.Or get competent linesmen who can look across the ice & see if a player or puck crosses the line 1st. It's only their most important task.
My rant, again. They should get rid of the challenge for offsides on a goal. Your team enters the offensive zone. The linesman doesn't blow the whistle so it's presumably good. Then you score & the fans are happy. Then the other team challenges & they go to video. They slow it down to show that it's a millimeter offsides & they call the goal back. That's stupid. It had no effect on the play. And all you're doing is taking away goals & pissing off the fans. If they want to do a challenge they should play the video once at full speed. And if they could see with the human eye that it's offsides then call it back. Otherwise let the goals stand. Or go the opposite way with offsides challenges. When a team enters the offensive zone & it's very close, call it offsides. Then the team entering can challenge & if they're correct then it's a faceoff in the offensive zone. That way you're not taking away goals, which is the point.
