Kings captain Anze Kopitar has been named as the winner of the 2024-25 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, given annually to “the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”
It also gives him his third Lady Byng Trophy, after previous wins in 2016 and 2023 (as well as being named a finalist in 2015). He is just the 10th player in NHL history to receive the honor three or more times. Only one other Kings player in franchise history has accomplished the trick — Wayne Gretzky (1991, 1992, 1994).
Per the official press release, “Kopitar was named on 132 of the 191 ballots and received 50 first-place votes for 856 voting points, finishing ahead of finalists Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning (793 points) and Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights (782 points) in a poll conducted by the PHWA at the end of the regular season.”
