GDT ***Washington Capitals vs. LA Kings GDT 12/2/25 7:30pm on FanDuel***

Hiller has the Kings playing coin flip hockey. His entire strategy is to keep the game aggressively boring so it’s close enough that a 50/50 play can decide the final result. Easily the most cowardly and bland strategy deployed by a Kings Head Coach since Terry Murray.
At this point: bring back Andy Murray. Even he was a better coach than this ass clown.

This sums it up perfectly. This season has reminded me often of the 2012 Coyotes under Tippet, only without the heart. But the approach is the same in just waiting for mistakes to possibly exploit. Hiller treats this team like it has no talent. They can’t have confidence under him.

I keep coming back to the regulation wins total. Two teams are tied for dead last in the NHL with 6 regulations wins. The Kings have 7. The Kings are now a 9th in the West with a goal differential of -4. The Kings are tied for 30th in goals scored.

Hiller must go.

What does the replacement look like? A players coach that lets the guys open the game up? Or a true no-nonsense task master?

Turcotte and Danault too.
Not that easy for Turcotte to contribute when Hiller plays him 06:39. Against the Ducks Turc in some miraculous way got 13:27 in ice time, scored and played good. But absolutely no reward at all from the joke behind the bench, the next two games his ass was stapeled to the bench again…

In the last 8 games, Kings has scored 1 or 2 goals in 6 of them!!!!! The other 2 games they absolutely ”exploded” for 3 and 4 goals, but still lost both…

I effin loathe this so called coach.

The last time the coach change from this kind of hockey worked wonders. Maybe that's the plan all along.

It was December 17th. Lombardi hired Sutter for the second time in his GM career.

So, which one of the Ken's exes will it be this time around? Babcock?

I suggested Dave Tippet back in the summer speculation thread. Dave says he’s done coaching but Darryl Sutter said the same thing before he joined the Kings.

I'm not upset about this loss as clearly the better team won. The Kings as a whole are getting out hustled and out muscled to the puck. The coach can't teach desire and the players don't have much at this point. The team they played tonight is a playoff team with a great goalie so can't fault the Kings as they made it tight. December is going to be a rough month for the Kings.

If Hiller were to be let go Robitaille/Holland will want someone with loads of experience as a contrast to Hiller’s lack of experience.

The primary requirement will be a coach both of them have worked with before or someone they are very familiar with… Mike Babcock comes to mind immediately.

fans of other teams reading this thread and seeing where we are in the standings must think we are all on crack. but they have not suffered through the 27 games of frustration with us so far this season. which really stems from 4 seasons of playoff frustration. which will turn into 5, as we all can see coming from 55 games away.

and Danault is still 0 G 4 A...... somebody in team management do something, please!! There's gotta be someone on the Reign who deserves a chance....Chromiak & Lee are the top scorers there, and this kid, Kenny Connors, is playing really well.

Forgot about Tippett! This fits the history repeating narrative even better!

Tippet was very good at coaching underdogs. I think the Kings are a lot like 'Yotes of 2011-12.

The similarities are actually scary. A somewhat underwhelming combination of (some quite very old) vets (Kopitar, Perry, Danault, Foegele, Armia, Moore, Kuzmenko, Mikey, Dumoulin, Ceci, Edmundson - Whitney, Langkow, Doan, Vrbata, Pyatt, Korpikoski, Gordon, Klesla, Rozsival, Morris, Aucoin) and some very promising and good and some promising but underperforming young players (Clarke, QB, Laf, Turcotte - Ekman Larsson, Hanzal, Bodker, Brule) and a very good goalie (Kuemper - Smith).

DD is an ancient Yandle from that era, probably worse, definitely more injury prone, BUT...they didn't have offensive players along the lines of Fiala and Kempe.

On paper, this year's Kings are definitely more talented than that Yotes' team.

Difficulty scoring, but disciplined play with solid defense, good grit and very good goaltending enabled Yotes to far surpass the expectations in 2012 postseason by reaching the conference finals.

This is the only way. It's Tippett or bust. Does he own a farm in Canada, too??

Perhaps the Kings can persuade Gerard Gallant to come back to this side of the world? He's a player's coach for sure, but he's also got a strong work ethic and his aggressive fast-paced style would be a perfect fit for our talent. Now if we can just coax him out of his KHL exile...
