After a hard-fought 3-2 overtime victory against the Calgary Wranglers earlier this week, the Ontario Reign are looking to keep their momentum going when they meet the San Jose Barracuda on Wednesday evening. This will be the fourth time they’ve faced off this season, with Ontario having already beaten their Pacific Division rivals from San Jose two out of the three times they’ve met up this year.

In Monday’s bout against the Wranglers, coach Marco Sturm saw his club come out on top in an exciting comeback win. Most of the Kings prospects were fairly quiet that night, aside from goaltender Erik Portillo’s 24 save night. Special teams played a large role in the outcome, as 11 total penalties were called during the game. Ontario converted on just one of their six power play opportunities, while Calgary was slightly better at 1-for-5.

The Reign have been solid thus far in February, winning four of their last five games — and recording points in all five. On the other side, the Barracuda are looking to rebound after a tough 4-2 loss to the San Diego Gulls last time out. Overall, San Jose has struggled to maintain consistency, winning only two of their seven games outings this month. However they still have key players like Forward Andrew Poturalski, who leads the team with 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists), and will be a top player to watch.

Meanwhile, in NoCal…

Ontario Reign have recalled goalie Dryden McKay from ECHL. Portillo was a little banged up in Calgary. He's day-to-day. x.com
