What happens first?

NEXT COACH WISH LIST: Peter DeBoer

PLAYER TRADE WISH LIST: Moore, Denault, Ceci, Fiala.

I wish for Tippett to come out of retirement, similar to how Sutter came from retirement.

Tippett did wonders with those (on paper pretty damn average at best) Coyotes teams...

You have to have to have a partner to
make a trade. As much as I like Denault. He is a weak link. Kopitar is also a weak link but obviously he’s not going anywhere. Ceci and Doumolin (sp) are turnover machines. Won’t be able to get rid of them.

Have to have a coach lined up before you fire.

Who coaches power play? I fire him. Here is Kings power play. Drop pass to enter zone. Cycle around boards to top. Pass as blue line and turn over. If no turnover. Take point shot. Get point shot blocked or miss wide. D clears zone. Repeat.

With better power play, we win more games.

Obviously with a team that's supposedly "built to win" by the new GM, you change the coach first. A roster shakeup would be Ken telling everyone "I failed at building a winner". This way he's getting rid of a bad coach the previous GM hired.

So, that HAS to come first. Then, if things are still not great at the beginning of February, Ken needs to make some lateral moves to shakeup the roster, especially the "deadwood" from the previous GM (Danault, Foegele, Moore, Edmundson...).

I hope the team finds its groove one way or another before deadline, as that might trigger a desperate move or two that cost this team sizeable future assets that will be sorely needed when the old core finally retires. Meaning this team could be only a retool away instead of a full-blown rebuild that could loser scar (or scare away) the few talented young players that will still be in the system at that point...though I guess if you trade every young player with talent away, you have no one to scar? Eeek...

Agreed though Edmundson has been one of our better defenders this season. On a team who utilizes them correctly, Foegele, TO and Danault will pay dividends. Sure you move on from some, or all, of them if you want to shake things up or start a rebuild, but slump aside, these are still valuable players on a team whose goal is to go deep into the playoffs.

Out of that group, I wouldn't give up Foegele unless it is a really good offer and let's not forget how solid Danault was last season during the playoffs after struggling in the regular season (though clearly not as bad as he has struggled this season offensively).

You're probably right about Edmundson, BUT...a new coach could request a more mobile LD that he pairs with Ceci.

Foegele, TO and Danault could get moved IF they keep stinking it up even after the coach change. I mean, if it comes to coach change, that means the team will continue to struggle for a while...they may be desperate for a change if the new coach comes in and the team doesn't respond promptly.

After all, they do need to make the playoffs in order to have success there...Danault at 0G 4A for the season so far is simply unacceptable.

Yeah that makes sense as it would likely be hard to move Ceci.

Agreed. I haven't noticed it from TO, but something seems off with Foegele and Danault. Hopefully it is just extra focus / gripping the stick too tight due to lack of production and trying to break the slump, and not a developing attitude issue. They definitely look pretty grim on the bench though.
