Super Star
Next installment from Oilersnation.

Pregame:

-I love what Bouch can do offensive but I really hope McD and Leon take Bouch aside, give him a big hug and while they do that, tell him rimming a puck, or going off glass or eating a puck sometimes when there is no other safe option is not a failure on his part. It doesn't make him a lesser player in their eyes, they won't be mad at him and they will promise to still pass him the puck when he's open if he makes the safe play from time to time if that's all he has.
-I just don't get it, replaying skinner likely mistake. Taking out jeff and playing klingberg, lookin like 0-2.
-I think statistically teams that win game two have a higher chance to win the series. Though statistically teams that win game seven have the highest chance of winning the series.
—I think you’ll also find that if a team wins 4 games, including game 7, they almost always win the series.
——I am not that good at advance analytics!
-My favorite part about Skinner is when they interview him after a sh*tty game and he says "I thought i played well".
-I’d hate to be the goalie that was known throughout hockey history as the one who prevented Connor McDavid from winning a cup.
—Right now Bobrovsky is the goalie that prevented McDavid from winning a cup.
-I saw a stat that 87% of playoff teams that go up 2-0 advance. This will be a rough watch tonight.
-If we even had AVERAGE playoff goaltending, we'd be 2 time Cup Champs. Instead we're running out the WORST goalie in NHL playoff history. Which begs the question..... WHY?
-Swiss Cheese Skinner will probably let in 4 or 5 again. Oilers better figure out how to score earlier and often in this game.
—Not like Kuemper was any better.
-If I was to guess what kind of dog Mean Gene has, it would be a standard poodle. Must be nice getting a two for one haircut

-Let’s be positive and help carry the oilers to the promised land, one period at a time. Imagine yourself in that locker room. Imagine what that feels like. it’s like WW1 and sitting in a trench with your buddies, rifle in hand, waiting for the start of the days battle. Let’s support our boys.

Game:

-Who the hell wants to be an NHL goalie. Puke.
—Not Skinner, hes trying his hardest to get the hook but knobber wont let him.
-You see that hit go unpenalized 10 times a game
—VERY questionable call.
-Wes McCauley is a douche bag!
—He's what Tkachuks p*ss out after drinking douche water
-WTF TERRIBLE CALL. kane barely pushed him
-I hated that weak call on kane for the LA PP. The guy stopped, slouched to change direction, kane barely touched him, he went down, refs arm goes up.
-Walman gets beat, causes a 2 on 1.
—He’s been a bust
-Crowd having their way with Skinner.
-Skinner single handedly screwing everything up
-That crowd is pumpin, they smell blood
-LA has a too many men get out of jail free card
—The puck hit the foot of the guy getting off the ice. How is that not a penalty?
-Need 4 calls to get 1 call. LA needs no call to get a call
-Kings aggressive PK is a good thing IMO. They will get caught.
-I blame Skinner on a lot of goals but not that one. The guy had a free skate past a coasting Janmark right to the net to bang in a hard pass.
-Bullshit, Bullshit, Bullshit. Dam Bettman
-I’m feeling like we are gradually building pressure, and that the LA goal dam will bust wide open the first few minutes of the second. It feels like we are close.
—I think you are right. I like tonight's lineup. They can win this and take home ice away from the Kings.
-The 19 millions pairing D
-Why are they booing nurse?
—LA fans booing cause he was leaving the ice.
-The Swiss Cheese Model, developed by James Reason, is a framework for understanding how accidents and errors occur in complex systems. It visualizes the system's safety defenses as layers of Swiss cheese, each with "holes" representing potential weaknesses or failure points. Accidents occur when these holes in different layers align, allowing a hazard to pass through and lead to a failure.
Commonly referred to as a "Skinner" or "Pizza 74".
-Knoblauch needs to be fired next week too. His decision to start Skimmer, let alone go back to him tonight is f***** inexcusable
-We had 82 games to find lines 2 - 4 that work... no depth, no chemistry...
-The Nuge doesn't cope well with the aggressive LA PK
-LA gets a PP and my gut is heavy with butterflies...
-How can eagles soar when they are surrounded by turkeys. It’s criminal that players like McDavid and Drai will never win a Stanley cup. Oilers have to be one of the poorest owned and managed teams the last 15 years
-Coming back the first game was a fluke. LA is too good to let Edmonton do that again.
-Skinner is finished as an NHL goalie. Done
-Preview of the Post-Game...
Interviewer to Knobs: Did you consider putting Pickard in?
Knobs: Yes, but McDavid said no, give Skinner another chance.
-Better team is winning pure and simple. 2 players, even if they are the best, are not a team. Especially in the playoffs.
-Knob probably won’t be fired. At this point the revolving door of coaches will deter us from getting anyone good in replacement…that, and he’s McD and JJ’s prized possession.
-2 games in a row, dig a big hole. Does this group just not have the IQ to learn from past mistakes. Seems that way
—It’s not about learning. They don’t have the team to win. It’s like the special ed kid can’t be made into an honours student. This team just doesn’t have it.
-We really needed to win the 1st game after that 5 goal comeback. we shot our wad on that game. now, we are spent, and the writing is on the wall. Losing to LA, of all cities, who have the friggin Dodgers and the Lakers.sucks. Drai with a nice goal, but we don’t have endless comebacks in us. we are counting on hollywood comebacks, and that’s just not sustainable
-One good thing is we don't have to look at those horrid silver helmets....the flat black is actually pretty sweet.
-Drai with a very high danger backhand pass in his own zone. They are getting too anxious. Still have to play it smartly.
-Podz ,gets kicked out ? Matthew Tkachuk does that every second shift and doesn't get a call against ...
the one thing the NHL lacks is consistent officiating on BOTH sides of the puck in many many games.
-I feel sorry for the suckers that bought playoff tickets for this mess. Get to watch Oil get swept on home ice.

Postgame:

-Edmonton had their manhood taken from them by LA. What a humiliation.
-We are being coached by a complete moron. Continuing to play the Leon / Connor line in the last minute of game 1 after they were completely gassed from the come back was a mistake. Not practicing yesterday was a mistake. Loading up Leon and Conner together from the start was a mistake. Benching J Skinner was a mistake. Starting S Skinner was a mistake.
-Regular season doesn`t lie.
Oilers are pretenders.
Roster decisions were stupid, it was a mistake to let all the young guys go.
There`s no goalie, and a lousy D.
Behind in all statistics.
Questionable coaching decisions, like letting Draisaitl play after he injured his leg.
A goalie coach that successfully had run down everyone.
The fluke isn`t this year. It was last year.
The reality is, in one of the weakest divs the Oilers would already be golfing, if not for Draisaitl having an MVP year.
You can blame Skinner, at least one of them, but you better start asking what RNH, Hyman, Henrique, Arvidsson did contribute and why another 3m sit healthy scretched in the crowd. How about Bouchard and Nurse? They eat 14m cap now, what did they bring the last 2 games?
Our deadline acquisitions, costly. But the main thing i saw was stupid penalties.
This team is done.

The basis of everything...referees are against them. Rinse/repeat. All too predictable when they take the L.

League Trends

* Teams that take a 2-0 lead in a best-of-seven series own an all-time series record of 353-56 (.863), including a 266-34 (.887) mark when starting at home
Kings in all previous series got a split on the road.
Just some math and history 🤣

Sure, every team has a fanbase that has some various amounts of negative nannies and whiners, but the Soilers take petulance and entitledness to another level and have accomplished themselves at that all the way. As much as everyone loves to rib on Toronto and Boston as well as Philly, they're relatively tame compared to Deadmonton; even Philly isn't this whiny even as notoriously ill-mannered they really are in sports fandom.

pretty accurate assessment of their team by most of these posters. I'm still laughing at the guy sitting behind me when I went to the game in Edmonton who was yelling, "Worst #2 pick in history!" at Byfield......has he not seen any Kings games this season?? (this was right around the time Nurse smashed QBs head into the ice - can't remember now if it was before or after)
