My biggest problem with the idea of him was people wanted a truculent defender like Greene and then pointed at Gavrikov and he was not going to be that player in any world. It was more a matter of mistyped identity if you were going to bring him in to be that. The analysis of him as a number one defender was also clearly way off. Don't get me wrong, he's the driver of this second pair. But it is in the 2nd pair role that he's shining
