I was way wrong about team USA.

Florida has that extra gear that we all talk about. When they needed a big game, they physically destroy Toronto. Now they are pushing around Carolina with ease. Some teams just know how to win, when it matters most.

Florida is once again outscoring Carolina. Carolina seems to suck when it comes to goalie performance in the playoffs. That's one issue that definitely needs to be addressed in the upcoming offseason for the Canes.

Carolina is a good team. They are just being completely outclassed by the class of the league right now. The only team that can stop the Panthers is the Oilers, and that's iffy.

Yeah I’m just never going to get over the Kings having a 2-0 series lead with a 1 goal lead going into the 3rd of game 3 against these Oilers. Watching how they’re toying with this Stars team is just pissing me off all over again.

It does give me a bit of hope that Holland built a significant part of this Oilers squad. Maybe he can do the same in LA.

It’s just not possible to beat this Oilers team without some amount of superstar talent. That’s the best shot you’ve got. Holland needs to do whatever he can to add Marner this off-season. If he can’t get Marner he needs to add a player who can produce offense on a level above Fiala and Kempe.

In one of these threads I dreamed up a scenario where Holland trades for Tage Thompson. The problem is it would require Byfield plus to get Buffalo to even pick up the phone.

I love the reference! I got a signed copy of "The Passenger" just before McCarthy passed away a couple years ago.

I still think Dallas has another gear for this spring. Last spring they had 2 tough rounds while the Oilers breezed through the Kings in 5. This time, Dallas got to face Winnipeg so they should be fresher than 2024. They need guys like Robo and Johnston and Duchene. Also, it gets lost in the points hype, but Mikko is statistically the skater equivalent of Skinner. He's either getting 3-4 points in a game or averaging 1/3 ppg.

I hate the Oilers but I also wish we had some scummy players. The Kings are a bunch of good guys and softies. It is analogous to the entire Canes team watching Aho get beat up in game 3. I wish we had some guys like Perry or Nurse or Kane who would start stuff and get into the other team's head. We also need to get bigger where we can.

It amazes me at his age Corey Perry is playing good hockey. Most of us wrote him off many years ago, however, he would end up on every Stanley Cup final team and would lose, however he was there. He's not on the fourth line playing out his career, he is the mix of things each and every game.

Perry doesn't have to stand in front of the net trying to make a name for himself; however, he is there each and every game and yes, he scores and has an impact on the game. He must love hockey and must love to compete.
