I thought his qualifying offer was 1.3 mil and the Kings passed on it. Not sure I understand.

However, I'm glad he's staying.

He made $1,550,000 last year so his QO would have been $1,627,500.

His previous salary was 1.55M so I'd think his QO would have been 100% of that. I'd have liked to see him come back at closer to a million but after seeing Deslaurier get close to $2M to go to Philly, I think this is a decent signing.

Iafallo Byfield Kaliyev
Lemieux Lizotte Grundstrom
Vilardi JAD Andersson

Who goes? Kupari most definitely starting in ONT. Still think an LD is coming back via trade.

We've signed G Pheonix Copley & D Tobie Paquette-Bisson to one-year deals!

I have to guess for Ontario

Welp chalk me up confused? I knew there wasn’t gonna be a big FA signing… question is what are they doing about the Defense and overall toughness? Dials was great last year will he be able to replicate that? Hope so

Vegas is a mess so you never know. A couple of other thoughts in terms of picking at Vegas' roster. What about trying to get Patches in a salary dump? He's a top line scoring winger. And Vegas could use $7 million like nobody's business. Maybe you can get him for cheap'ish. The other thought will never happen because RFA's never get interest, but how about putting in a 2.5-4mil offer on Nic Hague? A 6-6 LD would help the Kings get pushed around less. And Hague is starting to put his game together playing over 18 minutes.

Patches and Dylan Coughlin traded to Canes for future considerations aka nothing in a pure salary dump.

They can't afford to trade the only D-man (player?) they have with any sort of physical presence at this stage. They need to get tougher at the back end, not softer.

Hard to argue this. Though, I really hope he works on his passing and his break outs over the summer. He killed the Kings momentum (in games) so many time this year just by botching a pass in the neutral zone.

It’s unfortunate that the bloated contracts of Kopitar and Doughty really force this team up against the cap, while no longer providing value commensurate with other players of similar cap hits. Definitely what’s keeping us in the middle, as those guys should probably be making 8-8.5 mill per compared to comparable players. Plus having two goalies earn the same $$ as the highest free agent goalies signed for this free agency period is really painful to watch. That Peterson extension unfortunately came due a year too soon, because he would have been closer to 2.5-3 mil per if it were signed today.

Glad to see Calgary lose Johnny G. Would have preferred that Edmonton not be able to retain Kane, or sign a steady goalie, but perhaps the Kane thing will backfire on them. I suspect Vegas will sign Kadri, since they basically gave Pacioretty away for nothing but to clear cap space.

Agree on Cgy, and Edm ... Not sure but Vegas just resigned Smith 3x5aav... Do they have anything left to go after Kadri?
