2025 Draft lottery

We have yet to see him being an integral part of a playoff team and performing as a top 2 D-man there. Do we want to build a solid team or a Cup contender? We already have a solid team. We need Willie Mitchells, not Sean Durzis.

He'd be a good spark as a 3rd pairing guy and PP presence, but guys like that usually cost too much too quickly because of their offensive numbers.

Another interesting D-man who probably won’t be there at 27 but if he is I’d take him.

He plays for Edmonton. NO THANKS!

j/k

Ah, he IS the son of a Fiddler! I mean...THE Fiddler. The one who played hockey.

(He sounds like a good prospect, I agree.)

From the Oil Kings to the Kings - I like it.

He'd be a solid pickup and likely worth trading up a few spots to get.

2025 NHL draft: Updated prospect rankings after U18s

Obviously, the pickings look to be slim around 27th overall but I'm intrigued with Bill Zonnon based on his profile from the ESPN article hyperlinked above.

Some mock drafts I have seen have the Kings drafting him. He seems like a good option, though I don't know enough about him to really weigh in (I have a really hard time evaluating players in the Q). The only thing I'm not thrilled with is his age (if he truly is a raw prospect).

Probably a reach at 27 but Kurban Limatov is a very interesting young D man.

Why is he a reach? Looking at Eliteprospects he's not ranked above 30 in any but one scouting ranking that I've never heard of before...

I was going off hockeywriters consensus. There’s also the Russian factor. Every draft without fail we see Russian prospects picked later than projected. Kings haven't drafted a prospect out of Russia earlier than the 3rd round since 2008 (Slava Voynov).

Lost in all the Blake is out frenzy was the NHL draft lottery. Islanders (no GM) won, jumping nine spots thanks to the lottery Monday, while Utah Hockey Club went from No. 14 to No. 4. The Boston Bruins fell two spots in the draft lottery, landing at No. 7 despite finishing with the league's fifth-worst record.
Kings pick 27th, then not again until 91. It'll be hard to stock the farm with these picks, but that's what a 2nd place finish gets ya.
The new Kings GM will have some work to do this offseason.

With EDM and CAR advancing we move up two slots. If Florida wins we could move one more. So 24th or 25th.

People keep saying the Russians won’t come over & they’d rather play in the KHL. Sometimes if they’re under contract it takes a few years. But mostly they do come over.

Craig Button’s latest draft list dropped recently.

He’s got LW Carter Bear @ 24

I don’t think the Kings will have a 1st round pick in this draft but if they do use the pick @ 24 they’re going to get a very good prospect.

I can’t remember which podcast I heard the anecdote but it was right after Blake walked away and the guest made it a point to suggest Blake was personally responsible for the Kings draft philosophy of taking toolsy, sometimes big d-men hoping they’d put it altogether because Blake himself was a big toolsy d-man who eventually figured it out. Bjornfot, Grans, Faber, Dvorak were all seen as having great tools but not much production in their draft seasons. Faber certainly the best of that bunch.

Contrast those 1st and 2nd round picks with Brandt Clarke whose offensive skills were already producing big stats pre-draft and over a PPG in his post draft season.

If it’s true that Blake pushed tools over polish, I cannot see the current Kings scouting department drafting Boumedienne. While he’s not particularly big he’s the definition of tools no toolbox.
