2025 Draft lottery

Interesting take. A "log jam" of sorts for top minutes so they're looking more for players to fill a lesser role? I guess gone are the days where you pick they best player you can and then try and fit him in.
I guess if you're not picking in the top 4-5 you shouldn't really expect them to come in and make an impact right away. Who was the last player to do that for the Kings? Doughty?
Bjornfot is the closest. He almost made the team out of his first camp but was assigned to Ontario. He got called up for his NHL debut in Feb and played 3 NHL games that season. It was a terrible decision by the organization.

I'm a little surprised he is still playing after the number of concussions he has had. I really hope he can find a way to avoid any future concussions, and stay healthy as a whole, going forward. If so, I think we will see a special middle six player who can play any situation.
I think he'll be out of the league in a few years. When healthy, Turcotte is a very good player. Certainly middle 6. I remember watching him at camp and he has first round skills where he can do almost everything at top speed. But he lost a lot of development time due to concussions and his style is conducive to him getting crushed by a hulking defenseman in the corners (not to mention when you get cheap shotted by Andreas Englund in the AHL).

I hope I'm wrong but I see Turcotte as a Brett Lindros type where you have a top-10 pick whos career gets cut short by concussions. (Best case scenario would be a Crosby type deal where he's seemingly one big hit away from retirement and then plays another decade. Sid also had that fractured vertebrae)

Wheeler’s final mock draft.

He has the Kings drafting Fiddler.

I sure hope Holland can trade down.
Fiddler would be a solid addition. I don't see the merit in trading down unless it nets us an nhl ready prospect, or player, that fills a void. Either way, such a move would likely be short-sighted.

I'm maybe a little biased being 1/8th Chinese, but with the talk for the Kings' need for big skilled defenseman, especially with upside, I'm quite intrigued with Haoxi (Simon) Wang. He apparently also exhibited some physicality in his OHL playoff run.

He supposedly could be a late first-rounder, but that would look like a surprise pick. It seems more likely that he'll be a second-round pick. The kid is described as being devoted to hockey with a hunger and eagerness to do whatever it takes to be a full-time NHLer as he figures out what type of player he should be.

He sounds almost too good to be true, so there's obviously a lot of hype--warranted or not--to his feel-good story. However, I genuinely think he's a moldable piece of clay with a high ceiling that our developmental staff can do something with.

In any case, I say, "Give me the big Wang!".

Wang Could Be Historic Selection at 2025 NHL Draft
If he gets selected have a ball with lots of dancing and I have the perfect accompaniment for you:

Thanks! I appreciate it. It's funny. I initially only saw Haoxi (Simon) Wang's name on just Corey Pronman's mock draft for the Athletic as the last pick in the first round but I've since seen him listed as the Kings' pick in USA Today's A.I. mock draft roundup and Bleacher Reports' mock. ESPN projects him to be a late second-rounder.

I was actually thinking that if the Kings draft him (in the first or second round), I'd be rocking to a more obvious ditty but there's nothing wrong with playing both back-to-back.

If they sign Wang, I'm so getting a jersey

If Fiddler is gone, I could see them drafting Hensler if he's still available. Which I've seen in other projections that he would be.
That is ... if the Kings still have this pick.

This is a big deal. It’s something Yannetti mentioned in his most recent interview.

What is it like compared to now?
If a player is drafted out of the CHL a team has 2 years (or age 20) to sign him to a pro contract. If you don’t sign him by age 20 the drafting team loses the rights to that player.

If you draft a player out of any other league/committed to NCAA you have 4 years to sign him before you lose his rights.

Ah, so until now it was 20yo for NCAA/22 for CHL, and from now on it will be 22 for both NCAA and CHL? So no more (or many less) NCAA "freebies"?
