All Things:AMC television

I never watched Breaking Bad (yes, I live in a cave) so I'm watching Better Call Saul on its own merit, with no expectations, and I like it. I'm seeing it from a different perspective and I have absolutely no complaints.

Me too, actually.

Are you that noise I keep hearing on the other side of the cave?

AMC’s ‘Preacher’ Has Locked In Its Cast, Including Dominic Cooper And Lucy Griffiths
http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/2015/0...-including-dominic-cooper-and-lucy-griffiths/

First up, according to Tracking Board, Dominic Cooper is officially your Jesse Custer. That’s not a surprise: Cooper was heavily rumored to be the frontrunner for the role. A bit more surprising, though, is Lucy Griffiths showing up.

You probably know Griffiths for being written out of Constantine after the pilot, but according to Deadline, she’s been cast as Emily, who is “a no-nonsense single mother of three who is a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse’s loyal right hand.” This is a bit of a departure from the original comic, where Jesse’s receiving of the entity called Genesis triggers a nuclear explosion and kills the entire Texas town he’s the preacher for. Either that’s not happening, or Emily has unexpected business in Lubbock or something.

Saul was quite the yawner.... I guess my expectations were too high. The last 4 weeks could have been condensed into 1 episode.

At least with Lost, you had a few seasons where "something" happened every week before they went soft.

The finale was so so but the episodes leading up to it were really good.

I feel like you lied to me. The show is pretty good, although I really can only take a show where the main character is a total loser suffering misfortune after misfortune for so long.

Why doesn't he just make sure he has enough stamps on his parking pass before he leaves the building?

Six episodes into Saul. Big thumbs up to the lunatic clients in the third or fourth episode, specifically the guy with his own money and the guy with the talking toilet. The episode I am finishing up looked like one of those 'let's follow a supporting character so the star can have a week off' yawner episodes at first, but wow, when the cop pulled the trigger on the first gun, that was the awesome.

Yeah, I am puzzled, but still very excited.

Really hoping they don't drop the Nazi BDSM bit, though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

The only person of interest yet to cast is Herr Starr. I am still holding out hope for Patrick Stewart but he is a tad overripe for the part. Not sure why I am not freaking out over the changes, but I really do feel as if it's in the right hands. And Neil Gaiman is on board (so far) so he must be ok with what they are doing. I just hope that changes are not made to soften some of the more f'd up aspects of the story and make it more tv friendly. Changes for the sake of storytelling I can abide, but to 'clean up' the source material...uh-uh. Hopefully Rogen and his partner create their own 'did you see that' moments as well. It should be interesting. Don't care much for Dominic Cooper...but, once again, I will wait and see.
