All Things:AMC television

Ok, so I watched FTWD finally. And yeah. It was not good. There were some seeds planted that could bloom, but SO FAR, all it does is make the inconsistent parent show look better.

All-in-all, yeah...not good. But you guys have to seriously lighten up.

No.

It was bad.

The fact that all the other shows I don't watch are equally bad does nothing to bring me back those 90 minutes I wasted.

I should have stuck with Rick and Morty.

That never disappoints.

A) you shoulda dvr'd I got through it in 50 ish minutes.
B)I have spent MY time watching a LOT worse...time is time Doc. Don't hold onto it so tight, you will enjoy it more.
C) my only opinion on Rick n Morty is that it has KILLED the formerly easy to achieve INDIGO BALLROOM @ SDCC.

With so much buzz about Fear the Walking Dead, I finally relented to pressure and started watching Halt and Catch Fire.

Digging it so far. Solid show. Great soundtrack.

I will watch more Halt and Catch Fire. May never get around to Fear the Walking Dead. Well, might watch just the beginning out of curiosity for the hot zombie, but that's it.

Welllllllll the outrage train must've left the station. No ripping on FTWD? I thought the second episode was a bit better, but this show is going to be a slow developer. Everyone seems to want them to get to the surviving thing already, but we are gonna be in the discovery phase probably at least into the first half of season 2. It's a different show and I think that's the problem. It cannot avoid comparisons. I still think there is some dumb behavior going on. And the dad seems to be playing the Captain Obvious role. But it isn't unwatchable. I don't understand why nobody will explain it to the daughter...maybe that's why she is constantly irritable. The dad's biological son is annoying too. I am not going to watch a show with two petulant teens who are more concerned with 'that's not faaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrr' as opposed to not getting tasted. So they better firm up these characters, and quickly. Clich? alert when the mom starts crying while rinsing the blood out of her shirt. This show has a LOT of problems...none of which can't be corrected. Gonna stick with it cautiously.

So. Fear TWD. It is actually getting better by the episode. Still has a lot of problems, but the addition of Reuben Blades and focusing on a military takeover as the prime threat is promising. Also, comparing said takeover to escaping a country in revolution has some potential too. BUT, and this is the most important thing...AMC may have miscalculated BADLY. The ratings are dropping by the episode, and it got trounced by Sunday Night Footbal the other night. I wonder if they can pull the plug on a show they have already renewed for season 2. I don't love it...but I am gonna keep watching to see what happens. I expect them to tie it in to the parent show in order to save it at some point...

My only problem with the show is having 3 teens ( I count the unconvincing drug addict as a teen) gives us triple Carl factor. adapt and survive.

I have to say at least they got moving in this last episode. I never thought I would ever say the female lead was right but Travis immediately turned like a loser as Rueben Blades noted. She should've taken out the neighbor. This is a difficult thing for AMC, as you note, since the viewers know way more then the characters. My thought is it took three episodes to get going and that certainly has hurt it. I will watch to the end of the season at the least.

It's even worse with her daughter and his son being in their trouble years and constantly acting like stupid ass teens who know everything and HATE the people that have raised em. So they got that right actually. But the junkie (Nick?) actually has some possible depth, cause he is a manipulator.

I think they are still developing the characters. I like the mom. She is starting to get it. The dad is clueless though. And they are gonna try to make him the moral center and it just feels forced. Reuben Blades' character is pretty well rounded. If you are thinking about jumping off at least wait till they kill their first major character. Let's see how they play it...

Agree and the subtleties with Blades character is interesting. I think it was mentioned (in Spanish subtitles, I think, while talking about how they would stay at the home) that they are from El Salvador or Central America. His comments about weakness and "they are the first to go" weren't lost. The problem for him is the anchor that is his wife now that she is hurt. I don't remember but did he even go outside the home once the cavalry arrived? Just have to feel he is going to get it in some very undeserving way while being shown to be the "voice in the wilderness" character. He is going to be shown as the guy who should be giving directions and helping folks survive. And they have to kill off some of the main characters, right? There is no way that everyone in the group can survive with the group being in such a highly populated area.

Hey I'm not leaving yet - I want to see this to the end. I still think seeing the zombie apocalypse play out in a big city is some interesting story telling and I want to see how they handle it. Oh and anyone else see the not so subtle hint that the airplane flying badly in the sky is surely going to be the plane sequence they have been teasing during commercial breaks of TWD they announced last week or the week before?

And he is very smart. He somehow knows exactly what is going on ...

Any love for Fear The Walking Dead? They finally got to everything last night (and without any spoilers ... could they have imagined the Forum - the old home of our beloved Kings - any worse??!! LOL!!). Travis is going to end up dead sometime soon if he isn't careful and Reuben Blades proves yet again he is one of the best character actors around. Not surprised at his storyline at all. The tuxedoed black narrator to open was great as well. That man is a master manipulator and will survive ...

Haven't watched last night's yet...but this show really turned a corner for me last week. I am glad that last night's episode seems to be trending upward too.
