All Things:AMC television

Walking Dead: Los Angeles really did somewhere turn into a pretty darn good show after the ultra-slow start. The last three episodes were excellent and full of Walking Dead goodness. Also, the kids and the dad got much less annoying. The new guy in the suit is a very interesting character and I loved the guy running into the tail rotor to off himself before he turned. I still think the plan of whoever was in charge of having the military round up a few families in a fenced off neighborhood made zero sense.

Badlands looks awesome.

Yeah, they turned a corner. A predictable character death was still pretty effective. And I think they are smart in concentrating on how they event changes or reveals people's true nature, rather than the actual threat. The new guy in the suit is deliciously frightening. Equal parts Randall Flagg from the Stand and this guy...

Lots of potential they hopefully, will not waste.

Did the daughter get raped by those soldiers? The other kid was knocked out. They cut away right after. Not rooting for it, and it's an unsavory thought...but it would give us an idea how dark this show could get.

Pretty decent job generating enough intriguing plot lines in 6 episodes after a shaky start.

Still doesn't explain what happened to the millions of Angelinos. But last three episodes were better than the first as long ignore the giant issue of lack of people/walkers

So should I consider watching Fear the Walking Dead even if I haven't seen The Walking Dead?

no. so far it's not as good as the parent show occasionally is. Of course, 6 episodes is a small sample size. If you are gonna start watching, start with TWD.

You could, because it takes place earlier and has zero connection with the original show (you know, besides zombies), but the original show is better. Then again, there only six episodes, so you can move on to the original show after that.

The chopper thing was awesome!

I kept dozing off last night while watching this. Was it really that slow, or am i just getting old?

Not sure if I like the weaving of the past with the present using black and white. I spent 5 minutes trying to "fix" my tv.

the black and white flashbacks were kind of annoying, but I definitely understand why. that episode would have been soooooo confusing without the clear differentiation between the flashbacks and present day.

I enjoyed the episode. that was a **** ton of walkers....wow. Carol and Eugene were cracking me up. Carol's "oh, that plan sounds so terrifying! it sure sounds like you guys should listen to Rick!" was awesome. she's just the best. I'd watch out for her if I were you, Morgan.

Thought the season premier was slow but good and is a good lead into a second episode of chaos. It allowed more character perspective before the dram that is coming next week.

Funny don't remember the Wolves in the comics (Scavengers is what they are called in the comics I believe). It was such a small story arc compared to what happens further down the line. Can't wait to see the Walker herd at the gates next week.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season Premiere Ratings Were Down For The First Time Ever

The episode was pretty strong overall. And the storytelling tricks were pretty clever and a nice touch. It shows they are still trying, which was a good sign. A little overlong, like that episode a few seasons ago where it was all 'hiding under cars while zombies walk by'. But I blame that on AMC wanting an hour and a half, where an hour, hour and 10, would have been tighter. I am a little tired of the moping. Rick especially...Oh I want to save everyone...except the stupid people. Screw it dude...go for it. You were right. Ethan Embree, who I just KNEW was gonna be dead before the episode finished damnit...good actor, was nothing but trouble. Star Trek rules...the greater good!!!!!! If you have to lose a few...thin the herd, man. But stop whining about it. Carol is such a pimp. And Morgan better watch out. gonna get yerself a cookie if you keep asking questions. I don't know...was it Deanna on the horn. She looked wound up pretty tight. SNAP????? Is Maggie pregnant? Lots of questions. The horde was pretty spectacular, and the walker that shed their skin/organs/etc to get through the v'd trucks was a nice touch. Good start.

I enjoyed it very much, the show feels like it is just firmly in its prime and fully confident in its course. Rick and Carol are both just too awesome, and Glenn is alls grown up now. I assume the horn is our buddies the Wolves. Seemed a little easy to kill that guy off, and what a dumbass to wander into a loose zombie anyway. But I guess that is what happens when you haven't had to survive like our main characters. Best part was Eugene getting caught overhearing the plans for rebellion, and as usual, humans are far more dangerous than zombies. Well, unless you have 10,000 zombies moving down the road and suddenly turned toward your settlement.

I was just thinking about this actually where Glen's character has come from to where he is now. Steven Yuen even admits "he should be delivering pizzas right now" not leading a part of the survivor group. Really well written and well acted story line there for him and to see where the actor is now is great. He is actually my wife and daughters favorite character and has managed to overtake Darryl in the "XXXXX better now die" mantra. LOL.

I enjoyed Fear but really TWD is a well oiled machine now. Really wondering if they are going to finish telling the story after 7 seasons. Let's just say that Fear has a ways to go to catch up to the parent ...

And regarding thinning of the herd - it is coming brother. Anyone who read this far in the books knows what is coming next. I like how Gimple has used the general storyline with the nuances of telling his own story. Not all the characters are around that get thinned out in the book but I really feel like there is going to be a few gut punches in this next episode. They can't have that many in a herd and not have it impact the general community in a bad way. Oh and I loved the telling of the reason why Alexandria was spared all the zombie infestation. The quarry idea was just great.
